Default 550 Alarm Question

Hello...Has anyone experienced an interior audible beeping alarm at speeds above 80 mph? Since I do not see any visual alerts on the dash I'm not sure what the noise is trying to alert me to other than the fact that I'm exceeding the speed limit. It only occurs above 80 mph and disappears as soon as the speed drops below 80. I didn't find anything about this in the owners manual so I'm not sure if this is a factory alert or a feature installed in the car prior to my purchase. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Robert

I certainly experience nothing of the sort in my Euro 550, Robert. Not even at 180mph!

It sounds very much like a feature installed by prior owner. I have never seen or heard of it on another 550.

Thanks for your replies JazzyO, agp22 & Boxer. Fortunately, I have a detailed history of this car which was provided by the original owner and is still published on their website at Edmunds.com. Unfortunately, this issue apparently was not experienced during their ownership. After reading through the owners manual twice, I think the most likely cause may be overheating catalytic converters, however, the audible alarm at 80+ is not mentioned. I'll see if I can duplicate the problem during my next drive before I take it in for repairs. At least I can control it by simply driving at the legal speed limit.

That beeping is a reminder from Governor Arnie's office to remind you that you are exceeding the speed limit.

All 12 cylinder Ferrari's in Calif were required to have that installed by 12/1/2006.

Default 550 Alarm

The alarm appears to be a fault of Beverly Hills Ferrari not clearing the code for the suspension issue that was fixed last year. I had the motor mounts and suspension system serviced as well as annual maintenance and the codes were not cleared from the CPU which caused it to have issues. Problem resolved!
