- Hi Jesse,
Yeah it's the same guy from Durban, he has quite a collection and can now add the 348 Spider to it, of which there are not many of those Spiders in S.A. If I recall correctly he was up in Jo'burg last year in the Scuderia at Ferrari Day Kyalami. He got the 599 GTO in June also at an auction which took place in Durban at the same time of the Top Gear Festival and paid something like R7million for it. - 08-05-2012 12:06 AM - permalinkTestarossa-RSAHey Mike
The guy who bought the 348, his name is Vijay Maharaj. They have a 599 gto,testarossa,430 scud, 355, 328 and a 308. That is all that I know of, they have a huge garage
He is the CEO of Rising Sun newspaper - Hi Jesse
Yeah it was quite a turnout of people there.
Okay so the 348 is going to Durban. What is your friend's dad's name from Durban? I know of a guy down there that has a few Ferrari's. Would be interesting if it's the same guy. Unfortunately I didn't see who got it. I was standing at the back of the crowd.
In regards to the F50 leaving the country, I'll be able to find that out as I know who the owner is and know the guys at Viglietti so they will know the story. I'll let you know when I find out. Hopefully it doesn't leave, would be nice to see it at the track days along with the other F50 that belongs to Theo which was at Ferrari Day this year.
Cheers - 08-04-2012 07:12 AM - permalinkTestarossa-RSAHey Mike
Well I'm not sure if I saw you there were a lot of people. Maybe I did see you but I can't remember.
Yeah it will be nice if the f1 car can come to the track day next year or even the one at Zwartkops this year. The guy who bought the 348, I know his son and they've got 7 other ferraris ( they're from dbn )
I heard something about the F50 going out of the country?
Regards - Hey Jesse,
Yeah I was there. Good to hear you made it through with your dad. Not sure if you noticed me by any chance as we may have walked past each other, I was wearing a black 430 Scuderia jacket?
I saw and chatted to Mike (Schumacher on the forum) as he was there too. If we knew you were going it would of been nice to have met you and your dad.
Yeah the sound of that F1 car was unreal. That guy who started it wearing the grey Ferrari Maserati tracksuit top is a mate of mine who works at Correzzeria. Glad it's going to a good home, Peter & Greg Bailey will look after her and he said they are going to use the F1 car at special events, so it won't just sit around collecting dust.
The F50 was crazy money! The guy who bought it, I've met him once at Viglietti. He owns the white 599 GTO with blue stripe down the middle and blue wing mirrors.
Have a good one. - Don't worry about the messages Jesse, I don't mind at all.
Okay cool, I'll go have a look at Exotic Spotter site shortly.
I just saw your pic now of the black 458. Was that today? And which shopping centre was it at? Nice spot.
Cheers. - Yeah the place is called Carrozzeria Viglietti Motors, which is a seperate company to Viglietti Motors, as it's owned independantly and not by the Viglietti brothers. The company is the official body shop for Ferrari and Maserati South Africa so that's why the name has Viglietti Motors in it.
Yip, it's in Longmeadow, which is off Modderfontein road.
In regards to the posting of spots, feel free to post the pics on my behalf - that will be great. Thanks a lot. - 07-24-2012 05:59 AM - permalinkTestarossa-RSAI'm trying my best to persuade my dad to take me, but it's during school time although I'm keeping my hopes up to go. Yeah I'd like to see what the cars go for especially the Alessi car. We're also not purchasing but I reckon the 348 might go for a bargain. Is the place where it's at part of viglietti? It's in modderfontein if I'm correct?
- Hi Jesse,
Yeah, I did hear about the auction of which the cars belonged to the late Leonard Smith. I'm actually going to the auction as it's 5 minutes up the road from me taking place at Carrozzeria Viglietti Motors in Longmeadow. Unfortunately I'm not going to purchase but curious to see what the F50 and Alesi car go for, as they recon the Alesi car could sell for anything between R2.5 to R3.5 million.
Are you and/or your dad going to attend the auction?
Have a good one.
Mike - 06-16-2012 05:04 AM - permalink360 ModenaI think I have an CD/tape/stereo aftermarket in my car, not OEM
I believe the cars were delivered with a radio delete in 1988
