Hello all I spend a lot of time on other forums and decided to broaden my horizons as there are some unique things here. My first F car is a 458 just delivered a month ago. It has been a great experience. I spec'd it as a daily driver, except no lift. Though still in the blind regarding details, I put a deposit on a "458 Scud" last week. Can't go wrong, although I will watch the competition with interest. I currently don't track cars but recently moved very near a good site. We shall see. I'm not a collector, but more of a technology addict and frequent driver, no matter the car or conditions. I went through a lot of P and L iterations before landing here. Each one a thrill and stepping stone... ![]() My screen name comes from a great sci fi anime called Ergo Proxy. I am prayerful but not at all robotic, not yet. Have a great day Jon |

Welcome the FLife Good to see another midwesterner. Jon was there a spec sheet or printed information for the 458 Scud? Look forward to seeing some Kodak moments of the 458 |

Jon Welcome to Ferrari Life. You've jumped in at the deep end with the 458. But what a way to start. A magnificent piece of automotive technology. Feel free to post some pics of your new toy. Thanks guys. I posted on another forum when I first got it. I sounded like a kid at Christmas, although I think nothing will compare with taking delivery of my now sold 09 Gallardo. Balloon white with black wheels and yellow trim. It's so difficult to recapture that first thrill. Here's an excerpt from the 458 post: "...just ridiculous in terms of steering response, beauty, power, ease of use, oversteer thrills, and just plain fun. ...sounds like a chainsaw cutting glass on the downshift. The exhaust smells sort of rich and organic, hot alloys outside and sharp leather treatment inside. A joy for all the senses. It feels lighter than it is. So agile, almost jittery, but settles over 70mph...." Doing it again, I would spec no white stitching, racing seats, and other minor differences. I was torn on painting the skirts. That might look better on a low car with dark calipers. Or a yellow car. Carbon fiber replacements are a bargain at about $6k haha. Cheers Jon |

On my way out the door the sales guy just said, "hey if you want to deposit..." The usual lighter, more powerful, lower car with aggressive trim will suit fine. I heard fantasies of a 4.5LTT but I sadly dismiss that. Do you have any inside info or factory contacts? Continental Autosports did a great job. They hooked me by letting me drive a 430 Scud 2 years ago. I didn't like it much, but I was putting around the suburbs without many twisties. I'm hoping for a mid 2013 delivery, but that is probably too optimistic. USA deliveries may not start that soon, and I am not first in line. I love the midwest, though it isn't the best for driving. My folks are retired in IL, where I was born. Mostly I live in WI and MI nowadays.

Jon- Welcome and that is a very pretty 458. I like the contrasting stitching. My car has red stitching. Here is the last official word on the 458 Scud from the Spring 2010 5 Year Plan to Fiat. Nearly two years old, but so far they have been sticking pretty closely to the plan.

I like the guys at Lake Forest a lot but I am going to visit both next month and have a heart to heart talk on a long term plan for service etc. Beautiful 458 - can't blame you for tossing him a deposit. Our local club is pretty weak. My service trips are going to be based around what you guys up north got going on Assume you are a Badger fan - fun town when that wind is kicking off the lake.

Welcome to FL Jon! Not too many people can say the 458 is their first Ferrari And, more importantly, it may not be your last Lots of great people here, none of whom are thesbians (inside joke, see my signature) How far are you from Lake MI? My favorite race to read about is the Chicago-Mac sailboat race. My home turf is just between Chicago and St Louis. Service seems strong at Continental. Hard to tell though. They told me they did a lot of work on an F40 there last year. I'm afraid service availability and competence will continue to decline as supercar brands focus on other (China) markets. Luckily Ferrari has a great warranty and service contract now. There aren't many midwest options left, are there?

I'm right on Lake Michigan. Used to be up north on Lake Superior, which lived up to it's name. I don't know much about sailing but the Red Bull air races were sure cool when last held in Detroit/Windsor. If I ever get a boat, I might as well get a horse and airplane too, then declare bankruptcy.
