Default Hello from Arkansas

New to this forum but not other car forums. I enjoy cars of all types, any thing that goes around and around to push something forward. I have many cars but in the process of installing the motor back into my 1982 208 turbo GTB. I am not afraid of modifying something so if you have a weak stomach toward modifications then turn away now. You've been warned.

Here are a few pictures. Thanks to the person in advance to turned me on to this forum and the guy doing the 12 cylinder mod to a 308.

Jack

Welcome to FL Jack. Can't be too many 208 Turbo's in the States? Any idea how rare your model is?

Jack- Welcome. As you know, 208 Turbos are very rare over here. Sounds like a fun car to have. The BBS wheels on your car remind me of Road and Track's cover car and first test of a blue, fiberglass car in 1976.

Hope you enjoy it here and we look forward to hearing about your 308, and your other cars, as well.

Thank you to all, I am a car guy at heart and will take that to the grave, I have very little interest in sports or hunting, not that I am against them its I have my preferences in the garage making something.

I am a retired electronic tech who sells stone for living. I own a number of machines that give me the ability to make parts for my projects. Water jet, cnc mill, cnc router, cnc laser. I have 9 cars as of this morning and that number goes up and down dependent on my desires of the moment. I have owned 8 Ferrari's and still have 2. The 208 turbo was purchased in the 1995 from a broker who sold it for an Italian insurance company. The car was stolen in Italy then made its way here and recovered my Interpol. I bought it from the insurance company I guess, its all in Italian, could be I bought a bridge in Arizona. It was the most lethargic car I have ever owned so I converted it to EFI shortly after buying it, this is where the adventure began, after the EFI, came twin turbos, neoprene suspension, racing shocks, 15 Brembo all 5 corners and Kinesis wheels. In 2000 I ran off the fuel curve and injector capability running 28 psi boost at 0 degrees F outside, this melted 2 exhaust valves thus the rebuild started and got put on the back burner till now. The other Ferrari's have been an 83 BBI 512 (wonderful car) a 86 TR, and a 79 400a the rest are 308s from carb car to 4 valve. I also have owned many Lamborghini's and still have a LP400s now for 21 years, the newest Lamborghini was a 91 Diablo which I worked on every time I drove it. I bought a SPF GT40 roller in 2007 and built it, this is the car I race now in open road racing. Also a NSX which is the go to diner car, 2 Porsche's, one being sold as I write, one 84 Jag XJS.

I know Jim G has a 208 turbo but its not in the states yet I think the later versions were much better than the early one like I have. Here are some pictures of past and present cars.

I think I am more impressed with the machines and the fact you know how to use then then the cars.

All the same you sure have owned some interesting cars especially that black 512.

I also like your lounge erm garage.

Nice collection, including the lunatic fringe mid-engine Renault turbo, which identifies you as a real enthusiast.

Great collection. Love the colors on the cars, pretty atypical on some of those models.

Thank you all, the area where the cars are in the house is a theater my garage is separate and just in back of the house, lets say my house will not be an easy sell unless you like cars (or planes) and single, I built the house when I was single and the theater has been off limits to remodeling by my wife.

The LP400s is just a part of the family, I bought it when it had 9 broken compression rings and needed rebuilt, after rebuilding the engine in 91-92 a friend convinced me to put EFI on the car and I've put almost 20k miles on it since the conversion its all bolt on and I still have all the original distributors and carbs to bolt back on. Its a series 2 low body Countach which at the time I bought it meant nothing to me as I was in the market for a downdraft 4 valve car. I also own one of the 3 twin turbo motors built by Bob Wallace in the mid 80s, this was going to be put it into the car but now that values are an important factor I will leave the original matching number engine in it.

As for the boxer I wish I would have never sold it, it was the best Ferrari I have owned and drove like the super car it was. Every new years day (after cops where home and in bed) I would take it out and hit 150 in it to break in the year.

Jack, you are in good company and among friends. Welcome to Ferrari Life

Awesome 208, you do not see those often and as taz mentioned, even fewer in North America. Congrats on owning such a unique car.
