Welcome MS.
With regards to ferraris you will not find anyone here being interested in them.

However.....please post some of the photos as this may well resurrect our interest

...but seriously please do post as it sounds like a very cool project especially when executed by a mater craftsman.

I also understand the PF's are now rarer than 250 SWBs as so many have been cut up for 250 GTO amd Testa rossa replicas.

That could very well be, not to mention all of them that were parted out.

The very first Ferrari I ever worked on was a PF coupe. It needed a valve job and my boss would not even pick up the phone to try and sell the job. It would have cost far more than the car was worth.

A mechanic of the prior generation told me also that the outside plug cars were routinely stripped of their motors as donors for inside plug cars. The inside plug cars got a reputation for gas fires started by fuel leaks from the carbs being ignited by the ignition system. In the early 60's many insurance companies would not insure them. He sold inside plug motors for scrap, nobody wanted them.

I'm from England too and the only metal shaping I've ever done was when I put a BMW 328 through a brick gate post in Wokingham, Berkshire. It wasn't pretty. Anyhow, you should swing by the Boulder Coffee & Cars sometime, there are a lot of car enthusiasts there every month (weather permitting).
