Terry Damn glad to see you over here - I was hoping you would show! Chas was just in town and your name came up as one of the most respected, if not the most respected and knowledgeable enthusiasts ... besides being one hell of a great guy! I will add that without your help my ownership experience would have been far more expensive and my upgrades would have never happened. In other words all that you did really improved my experience of owning a Ferrari. I too hope you stick around friend ![]() A wise man once said it's a good day when someone doesn't want to kill you - today is 1000X better No hoops around here to jump thru - Andrew please get this man a owners sticker! Rik- I note the forums are arranged with the 456/612 together and the 550/575M together. Not sure that makes sense because the 456 and 612 share nothing except they are 2+2 Ferraris. Chassis are different, engines are different, and even wheel bolt patterns are different. You can make a case for the 612 and 550/575 together because the 612 engine and 575 engines are all very similar with the same 5748 cc displacement. You can also make a case for the 612 and 599 being together, because the 599 is built on a shortened version of the 512 chassis and they share wheel sizes and many interior features including a modern alarm system. To me this makes the most sense. Not much case for the 456 and 612, though, except superficially. The 456 shares a lot more with the Maranellos. Incidentally, I sent Ben Deetman at ferraridatabase.com the expanded 456M section L (electrical) I had and he should be posting it soon. That is the one with the door diagrams, so you might want to watch for it. Taz Terry Phillips |

I as you agree. the 456's except for some SW and firing order and a few minor items were identical. The 612 was re-done to be more like the evolution between the Enzo/599 area IMO. It's almost like the 355 'odd baller' to me. Not a 3x8 and not a 3[6/4]0 item. Kind of a hybrid. However, on the Mondials, unless talking chassis, they almost do go hand and hand with their 2-seat brothers. The point being as you indicate is less posting of similar items. Some of the tech sheets and notices etc. relate to common models where on some sites they are seperated causing difficulty. What I almost like would be a library of ALL ITEMS and one just hyperlinks to it whereever it's needed. Cuts down on redundant postings and allows library updates [if needed] to be done across the board with little maintenance if not a cleaner site, which is what I believe FL has going for it, even at it's advanced years on the Net. I believe Andrew is very open to good ideas and that is just one. As for the electrical on the door, I look fwd to that, as I still have a couple items to fix, most is a mechanical on the driver's window ![]() one of those items I always threaten to tackle but never seem to get time to do. Rik- PM me with an address and I can send you a section L DVD so you have it before Ben posts it. I have all the owner's manuals from the 166 through the 458 organized by Ferrari document number too, and can throw that on the DVD as well. Taz Terry Phillips |
