Default How to slow the ageing process

Well, I registered here on Saturday and found a way of slowing the ageing process yesterday.

I put my deposit down on a 57 plate F430 F1 yesterday and have agreed to pick it up on the 12th. (this gives me enough time to get the garage nice and tidy ready for the new arrival).

This is my first Ferrari, and indeed my first venture into ownership of a car in this class. Its been a childhood dream to own a Ferrari one day, and now that it is so close it almost feels that I am still dreaming.

Anyway - the wait until the 12th seems to have slowed the ageing process, as its been less than 24 hours since agreeing the sale, and it feels like a week!

Ill probably be more of a lurker than a poster here as I already help run a club for the 350Z in the UK and that takes up quite a bit of my time. Ive already read quite a few helpful posts here and aim to read many more.

Hopefuly the reading of discussions here will help pass the time!

Welcome to FLife. Suggest you bring the 430 to Cliveden on the 13th:

Welcome and congratulations! You're in for quite a treat, the F430 is a phenomenal car and I think it's stunning too. You'll find Ferrari ownership is quite a bit different than the 350Z club but most of the Ferrari owners I know are still just petrolheads at heart and are not the kind of people that make Jeremy Clarkson's C*ck-o-meter go off the scale. The best thing about my first Ferrari is the people I've met through owning it.

Have fun! And drive safely!

Im looking forward to getting involved in some events, though sadly Im pre booked on the 13th to go with some friends to Alton Towers. Apparently taking delivery of your first Ferrari does not constitute a worthy excuse to spend the entire weekend doing nothing but driving round with a nice big grin on your face!

Welcome and congrats on the purchase.

You know science has actually discovered the aging chromosome some time ago, and many believe it can be paused by way of science, kind of thought that's where this thread was going but instead it's a much better topic.

Anyways I wonder how long it's going to be before they start offering people shots or implants or whatever it is to freeze the aging gene which would obviously help people live much much longer, I don't think it's a good idea in most peoples case.

Here is a pic of the car Im due to be picking up. I was quite impressed with the test drive, by that I dont mean the car (that was obviously impressive) given the mileage I was amazed to find that both myself and the wife had a full 25 minutes and around 10 miles or so each with the car (very surprising given that this now represents more than 1% of its total miles!), and the salesperson was very patient in answering all my many questions.

Awesome chesterfield, I can only imagine how thrilled you are to own such a fine piece of machinery. It looks terrific.

Wonderful car. I was just watching episode 8 of season 6 of Top Gear this afternoon and whaddayaknow it was the test of the 430. Really shows how good this car is!

You know - this is OT - I get frustrated when everyone gets to post big size pics and mine are always chopped when I upload. What's going on? Sorry - rant over.

Welcome and congrats: What a decent way to enter the Ferrari life

BTW: Can you educate us in the US of what a 57 plate means: I'm expecting it means fun/exotic?

You probably aren't taking high res photo's. To trim his down he can resize it with many programs, you might want to do the same.

OMG: that is way overboard.....to what real purpose does this server?

Is it supposed to be a quick check of the vehicles build specs so the local police can do a quick look and see?

I will let someone from the EU chime in, but the plates in Europe can, depending on the country, tell you a lot. The place of registration and year of car among other things. In some countries the plates tell you the registration city, department or province. I get the impression that it is a class thing to have a later registration in GB, hence the 6 month changes on the tags.

Even in some US states, your plates can tell law enforcement more than you know. Some states have done away with the name of the county you live on the tags, but unbeknownst to you, the first few letters or digits reveal the place of issuance. It has been explained to me by local law enforcement and I therefore can place cars as being local or not around my city. Sometimes it is handy when a strange car may be in the neighborhood.

Close, based on personal experience, the best and proper thing to do when you take delivery of a new Ferrari, is jump in it and drive it across Europe. Great way to bond with the car and learn how to drive it quickly.

article here from when I picked up my F40:

I don't know anything about photography but that looks like a nice camera. I haven't seen any of your pictures. What I meant to say was that the setting on your camera may not be on large file or high resolution which is why your pics are small?

Just troubleshooting the issue. Your camera looks like the kind they film movies with

I took that photo with my Iphone as its all I had with me at the time. When I get her I shall probably try and get out and seeif I can take some better photos

A run across Europe does sound very nice indeed, I did to the south of France, across to Italy, and up to Germany for the obligatory ring visit in the 350Z a few years ago.

How on earth did you fit enough luggage in an F40 to manage a European road trip!? The wife would have a fit if I suggested trying to get a week and a halfs worth of clothing in the F430's "boot".

By the way what exactly do I call it? This is the first car Ive had with its storage up front!

PS. just as a technical note, it may not be the camera, indeed if you have an EOS then I assume you know perfectly well what you are doing. It may be photobucket or wherever you host your pictures that is automatically resizing them when you upload them. There are settings in photobucket to put in a maximum size. Anything larger gets reduced to maximum, anything smaller stays as it is. Hope that helps

Thanks for trying to help. I'm a serious wildlife photographer so I do have some knowledge. I've just noticed that Ferrarilife always downsizes my pics. I'll give it another go, see if I can find the settings.

[EDIT]Just noticed my attachments are set to a maximum of 725 pixels wide. Don't know how to change that, but that explains it. I suppose I could upload onto a hosting site and link to it but that's too much effort.
