Default Kicked my heels twice, there is no place like home (i.e., FL)

I just want to sincerely thank Andrew for having this site for Ferrari and car enthusiast. I cannot express in words what a pleasure it is to be able to converse with mature, educated, and respectful individuals on all levels. Being a car enthusiast for as long as I can remember, i have always found that a core group seem to share similar values and are open minded. I joined FL last year, but rarely visited because my friends were more active on another website. Being a traditionalist and loyalist, I actively participated and really enjoyed the interaction with other members until I realized that the other website was being managed and operated by individuals that in my opinion, are immature, narrow minded, disrespectful of differing opinions, bullies, mean spirited, arrogant, and bigots. The really sad part is that despite those persons being of an ideology that I vehemently oppose with every breath that I take, I always give people the opportunity to speak and have the maturability to agree to disagree. I have many close friends that are of differing ideology, yet we get along just fine and have been close for many years. However, the individuals at that other website are of a breed straight out of the communist manifesto. Not that there is anything wrong with that as people who want to subscribe or fail to recognize that they do subsribe to such an ideology as they are blinded by reality, have the right to live their lives under such an ideology, but when it is imposed and abusive to other persons who live their lives differently, that is where the problems begin. I recently read a very good article on why these persons act as such, it is the simple fact that they are made to feel uncomfortable about their feelings or thoughts and do not have the cognitive ability to express an educated well thought out argument. What do they do? They target, isolate, ostracize and demean those persons with unfounded stereotypes and make perceptions of these persons as hateful and ignorant. I have been in the lions den of radical liberalism as I have spent many years at universities and in politics. I am not saying that all liberals are of this ilk, they are not, but there are those of the extreme that I deplore and will not allow them to control or take part in my way of life, in all aspects. I know them when I encounter them and they are the most evil people on this planet. Yes, I do research on all activities that I partake in life to make sure that my family and hard earned equity does not support such organizations or persons. There is a culture war going on in this country and I do not see it getting any better anytime soon. Rest assured, I will not allow any law, state actor, organization or person deprive me, my family, or friends of the individual rights granted by the Constitution and God. Therefore, because that other website is infected with the disease of Liberalism, I could no longer support it or the persons operating it. I have seen that some of those persons have posted here and one only has to read those post to see how blind they are to what transpired and why many of us decided to leave.

I do sincerely apologize for the long thread, but I want to set the record straight from the beginning here on FL. I consider myself a human being first, devout to God, Family, and friends (ferraris included). Some people may consider me right wing and that is their opinion. However, I despise politics and have disdain for both the far right and the far left. I sincerely believe in treating each person has a human being first and I do not see color, sex, age, size etc when dealing with people. I believe people should be treated fairly and doing the right thing. The sad part is that PC has distorted what is the right thing to do, just look at the recent Army and media hype handling of the Major.

I will be a contributor to FL and yes, I do like to joke around alot as I find it such a pleasure blogging with my friends on line and the laughs are great. Remember, we only live once and in reality, we are not here very long so we need to enjoy everyday as if it is your last day on earth. Thus, if any person is offended or uncomfortable with any of my post, please send me a pm and lets discuss as I do like to have fun, create excitement, and most of all, remember that it is entertainment! Outside of the entertainment, I will also provide content on legal issues for any person who seeks high level advice. I am an Attorney and CPA and practice corporate finance and tax law on Wall Street. Outside of work, I am an avid ConLaw follower and my closest law school friend practices conlaw on a daily basis.

I am really looking forward to years of entertainment and knowledge sharing with a community that respects individual expression, freedom of thought, understanding of differing opinions, and love of cars. As Dorothy stated "there is no place like home".

Respectfully Joining,

Redtrman

Great post.
I'll contribute as much as I can to this site also, helping with engine problems and solutions as I can. I too, contributed to the other site, but at times like to just have a good laugh and come to the forums to blow off some steam. But when the powers that be talk to others as though they're years old, it just doesn't go over with me very well. There is a right way and wrong way to deal with other adults, and trying to be a smart ass by talking down to the others isn't the way.
Thanks to Andrew for giving us all another site to indulge in our passion, and have some fun, without the Gestapo breathing down our necks.

+1 REDTRMAN

I think you may have found a big tent at FL of more amicable people across the globe.

As for me, I will continue to cling to my guns, religion, cars and FL.

Redtrman,
Great post. It has been like 3 years since I last logged onto that other site. When I got my Ferrari I used that site to get information and it was a great resource. Lots of good information and I made a few friends over there. I just got sick of digging over the layers of bullshit to find the info I needed. You'd have a post that started out, "What are the best tires for a 308?" and 10 pages later the answer is "You're an asshole." By the recent number of new members we have here I can see things haven't gotten better over there in the last 3 years.

The atmosphere here is different. We joke around but it is clearly intended to be in good humor and not offensive to anyone. We're talking about cars and life in general. Over there people get mad! Over here people just admit they can be assholes at times like the rest of us and we just all get along.

I've made some great friends through this site. I've visited the site owner in the West Coast USA and had another member who came to visit me in Singapore. Members from Europe and Asia and South America have all invited me to come and visit them and drive around in Ferraris. Even in Canada like anyone would ever want to go there. (That one was for you Roberto). There is no where in the world that I can't go and get a ride in a Ferrari. How cool is that?

Since I am of the lazy sort, I want to call you "Red" rather than the mouthful of potential typo's. My next question would be, "ever spent any time at Shawshank?"

This post is so true, it made me laugh my ass off.
In the last 6 months I've notice some of the "internet experts" there that have an answer to every problem somebody inquires about.
They jump on giving an answer so quick it doen't even give somebody that knows for sure a chance to add their knowledge to the thread.
And most of the time their opinion is "if you don't have what I have you're an asshole." Like Mick Jagger said: Ya can't be a man if ya don't smoke the same cigarettes as me....

I still think epoxy is an over-looked and under-valued repair procedure for leaking headers!

Havent heard from Jetfxr and Bruce in a while....that should lure them out of hiding to discuss tires!

Sounds like they are a couple of engineering co-ed's hiding behind bushes in the quad waiting for a cute girl pass by.

Two engineering students were walking across a university campus when one said, "Where did you get such a great bike?" The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike, threw it to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want." The second engineer nodded approvingly and said, "Good choice, the clothes probably wouldn't have fit you anyway."

Well, the Flyboy gets his hands dirty for a living (rumored) BUT Bruce on the other hand just sits and stares at his pile of parts....you could be spot on with that one.

Never underestimate the ability to take a wonderful thread by Redtrman and twist it in way's never even thought of!!

Unfortunately I have been guilty of this. I am in rehab as we speak

however, on the couple times I thought I were giving advice, it turns out the advice given ME was incorrect....

I plan on only speaking on what I hsould truly know.

Sex questions can start now.
