Hello everyone been a member for a couple of weeks. Kind of done this before most likely in the wrong area. So I thought I would do a proper introduction.

I am 48 years live outside of Memphis Tn Married with 4 children 19,17,15,12

My dream has always been a Ferrari every since High School.
I did realize on part with the New Porsche Targa 4S this past May.

All that did was light the Ferrari flame even more. Kinda of like getting the good looking girlfriend the finding out the one you always wanted was there for your taking.

Going to keep the Porsche wife loves it. Looks like I will be saving for the Ferrari for a couple years. I have really learned quite a bit about Ferrari's on here in the past week. Been reading post looking over buyers guides. I wish I would have found this online a year ago. I would be in a Ferrari now.

My thinking Now is a 550 or 360 maybe a 430 will see what the prices look like in a year or two. I really like the California but it doesnt seem to have much intrest on this forum.I wonder what the prices for those will be in couple years.Name: P1.jpg

I really appreciate all of the post from the guys on here. Ferrari owners are good bunch of people. Looks like if you have a problem someone here has been thru it and cant wait to help.

I will be posting more questions as they come up Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi, just happened to be online and see your intro fly by.

Great looking Porsche, lovely colour: some sort of green? Really nice!

But you said it: a Ferrari is probably even nicer, or at the very least essential to get ASAP for comparison. You sure you're up for one of the more recent models such as a 430? Still quite expensive, though prices may come down a bit due to the intro of the 458. 360s should be reasonable though. Don't know about 550s, but rest assured before long some experts will surface.

Now that we're talking about it anyway: (n)ever considered going 'Old Skool'? You could be short-cutting into F-land basically tomorrow for a mere $ 40-80k (excl. annual maintenance, that is!) if you were to opt for e.g. a nice 328 (which I personally highly recommend; of course I'm likely to be biased in that respect ), a 348, F355 or a Testarossa for instance.

Anyway, welcome!

A horse is a horse, of course, of course, and no one can talk to a horse of course. That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mister F.

Welcome GJ,
And I agree - beautiful Porsche. A spotless red Ferrari would compliment it no end!! I'm sure you will find plenty of good info here to steer you towards the Ferrari of your dreams. Good luck with the hunting....
Barry.

I would love a older model. There are no Ferrari dealers closer than Atlanta plus no one in Memphis claims to work on a Ferrari thats main reason for New Porsche . My think was a newer model plus one that will not require a out of engine service. Would be a better choice for me. Tell you the truth any Ferrari looks great to me.

I am hoping to have a budget of 120k if my business continues to go as well as it has in past . Planning on 3-5k for repairs and service. Will be driving 8-10k per year. Maybe little less. Wife is hinting she want Panma Porsche or Cayn. If that happen may turn lose of Porsche and have a larger budget.

The color for the targa is their special Malachite Green Metallic slaesman claimed its the only Targa that color in US I dont know if that is true. I have never seen one that color before. Wife picked color on Porsche it will be Red or Blue for Ferrari.

Plan sounds very reasonable.

Sounds pretty well thought out to me. Budget esp. on purchase should be ample. Engine out is complex, so true. One thing that occurs to me though: the newer the Ferrari, the more extensive and complex the electronics. Very difficult for non experts to maintain/repair. I sure am no expert, but isn't that a trade-off to keep in mind versus the mechanics?

On colours: I salute both your wife and you for picking the mesmerizing green on the Porsche, and opting for red (of corsA!) or blue (sera, I'ld suggest) for the Ferrari (whichever model it turns out to be).

Thanks I agree Corsa and the Sera Blues are my favorite. We(wife and I) Plan on taking lots of short trips and long one's as soon as kids get out of house in college. 1 down 3 to Go My thinking so far would be 550 or 575 I assume it would take two sets of golf clubs and needed luggage. Would be great on winding two lane roads. I kind of like the New Cal. not sure if it will handle bags. I like the new gadgets that the newer model have Navi , Sat Radio, Handfree phone. I have that in the Porsche along with 6speed Man. The new double clutch trans sound nice like in Cal. and New 458 not sure if the Cal. will be in my budget in 2-3 years. Might not be able to wait that long may have to buy a good Garmen listen to CD's or Ipod. I hate talking on phone too much like work. Everything is paid for house cars etc. College saved up. If I could just talk my self in to a loan now that would help me with the wait. But dear old Dad always taught pay for luxurys get a loan on neces. Hum this maybe a Neces?
