It isn't a prototype nor a test car!
It's really a special Ferrari...
There have been only 20-25 made for about 1.7 million each!
Whoever purchased one, instantly became a memeber of the fiorano ferrari circuit and are able to race around there.
it is a street legal vehicle!
Funnily enough all of them got sold after just a few weeks after their release!:drive:

well, IMHO it IS some kind of testcar. The vehicle has a lot of the F1 technology and is being maintained by a division of cliente corse, the racing division of Ferrari. After use the data is being downloaded for analyse, either for the owner in an attempt to go faster in it, otherwise by Ferrari to gather the all important data. You could say Ferrari has again found a way to cheat his way round the F1 rules when they told that each team could only so much testdays in order to help the 'lesser' teams. Ferrari just put the F1 stuff in some hi-tech clientcars and let them do the testing, they even pay for them. 31 were being build and were sold to important Ferrari clients. A full list can be found here on the site:
Enzo FXX for sale.

I meant it's legal ONLY for the race circuits.

Race circuits proposed by Ferrari.
You only have few events during the year, and that's why some owner have though to or have sold there cars ...
Anyway, it's true that it's not road legal BUT a swiss man is trying to adapt it "for a road use".

I know about at least one FXX that had license plates and was used on the streets

My guess is that the owner had some spare license plates and just put them on the FXX to take it out for a spin

Well, it's not like the police can catch him or anything, right? hehehehehe

The FXX is not street legal anywhere and you would not want to even try to drive it on the street. It is designed for smooth track surfaces only.

In some cases, owners have been able to drive un-registered or non-street legal cars briefly by using dealer plates.

Default How many american dollars does a ferrari fxx cost?

$1.4 million. You still can't get one- Ferrari is only selling them to previous Ferrari customers that have had a long-standing relationship with the company. Everyone is already spoken for, and they include mutiple track sessios and support from the F1 tech team.

Actually you can. There are a few for sale and several have already changed hands at least once. Ferrari needs to approve the new buyer, otherwise all factory support is cut off.

This is because the original sale was for a testing period (the idea being that the owners would be paying test drivers for Ferrari SpA) of I think 2 years - maybe 3 years. Anyway, the period has now expired and now the owners can sell, under the conditions that Boxer has indicated above.
