Default Stolen F50

On September 16, 2003 an F50 was stolen from Algar Ferrari in USA during a test drive. The information on the vehicle is as follows:
Model Year 1995
VIN: ZFFTG46AXS0103494
Exterior: Red
Interior: Red and Black
Original owner was Ted Conrad in FL.

Lets help the authorities catch this bastard.

June 8, 2001 F50 (Euro Model) #37 was stolen.
Within 2 months it appeared in Japan.
No doubt this one will also go there.
Once in, the authorities will do nothing.
As long as it never leaves the country, because if it ever does, it will be siezed.

Well if I see it I'll try to knock the driver out, hide it, then contact the owner and tell him to come ship it back ASAP. Only problem is, if what you say is happens I will probably be hitting a Yakza (Japanese mafia) which has too much power here.

The model [37] you speak of, who "owns" it now? If that is a fair statment to make considering he bought stolen property. Hopefully they can stop it from leaving the U.S. border.

Never in my wildest dream would I think of an F50 being stolen. How on earth can they sell the car? Now I know, once it's with the Yakuza. there's nothing that you can do.

3rd owner John Hunt, British property manager, bought June 2001.
Originally silver with black interior, yellow seats, repainted red.
October 2001, drove to Italy for vacation.
Early morning Sunday, October 21, car was stolen out of a supposedly highly secure hotel parking lot at Lake Como.
In January 2002, car showed up for sale by a well known broker.
Mileage rolled back, from 20,000 to 4,000.
Priced 5% below market value.(420,000)
Missing: hard top and case, owner's manual, service records, etc.
When approached by a well known American broker, and told it was stolen, price dropped to 300,000 USD.
Once in Japan, if police investigate, it is a joke, no laws requiring aiding in recovery of stolen vehicles.
After a few years in a warehouse, it is brought out on the market, just don't take it out of Japan.

That is total bullshit, but it also doesn't surprise me (nothing in this country does anymore).

Thanks for this interesting information. I will certainly add it to the register for this SN.

I don't thinhk we can blame the Yakuza for all, kind of like blaming the Gotti's for all cars stolen in New York.
There's no incentive for police to help get property to it's rightful owners.
That's where the money is, don't need organized crime.
The current regime benefits anyone who does it.
OOHHHHH WWWEEEELLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I go to algars all the time. It is 5 mins away from me. I actually saw the F-50 driving away after it was stolen. The guy was high tailing it down the road like no other. At first I thought it was just a really happy new owner, then when I got home, I watched the news and they said that it was stolen.

I still think it is a bit arrogant to say it went strait to Japan. I lived there for an extended time, they appreciate law and order. In May I saw 9 F50s, all of which were paid for.

Although I agree with you, it's (sadly) a fact that quite a lot of stolen Ferraris end up in Japan. Similar story with the Middle-East. But of course, this doesn't mean that the new owners would know about it. Maybe just the seller is a bit 'dirty'.

Oh, am I still welcome in Japan now? It seems that I have a bit more time this weekend, so I will contact you regarding Japan and more 8)

No offense intended, I thought that it had been established that the F50 was now in Japan.

Actually you are right, one of the two F50s mentioned in this post are in Japan. I was referring to the recent Algar F50 that was stolen. I just find it hard to believe a Japanese businessman is going to willingly buy a car he knows is stolen and if he finds out it is I think they have enough character to return it to their owner. Anytime you lose something in Japan there is no need to worry someone will do the "finders keepers loser weepers" bit. It will always be at a lost & found the next day. So if there are stolen F50s in Japan they are owned by the Yakuza IMO.

Sorry, but i think you're a bit confused. One F50 (s/n 103794. iirc) was stolen in Italy and ended up in Japan. The article is here:

http://ferraris-online.com/Articles/SCM_0205.html

This is where many of the misconceptions originated.

A different F50 (the one this thread was made about) was stolen and is still "MIA"

Hope that clears everything up
