Was looking at the 456M Salerno has on consignment. So they can't do the PPI.
However, I found out today it has gearbox issues, so that completely eliminates it from consideration.

Kileer58,
Why wouldn't you consider the car? I have some guesses but maybe I can learn something here.

The car has quite a few minor needs, that together will add up to at least $15K.
One top of that, they are not stating what exactly is wrong with the gearbox. They just say "Ferrari is going to look at it."
Gearbox issues on these cars are now Very expensive, in part due to some parts reaching unobtainium status.

Depending on the gearbox issue, they'd have to knock the price down at least 30% for me to consider it, something I'm assuming they won't do.
And that is before any more discoveries during the PPI.

But stay tuned....

OK, here's an update:

The car was repaired, reportedly by Ferrari of San Francisco. However, what they did is unknown at this time.
The car may be back in play, and I'm expecting updated photos and the maintenance records.
So I'm resurrecting my request for a PPI recommendation near Sacramento or San Francisco.

Any advice?

Not that I know anything, maybe you can ask the people at Fantasy Junctions (in Berkeley/Oakland area) or Mike Sheehan for their vast connections.

Thanks for the tip Jimmy. I've been exchanging e-mails with Mike since before I bought the Spider. BTW - his family lived across the street from us when I was growing up! You're the first person that mentioned FJ, I hadn't thought of them. Good idea.

I never dealt with FJ personally but seems like they have excellent reputation and seems very professional to me with a long established business in the Bay Area. Can't go wrong and won't hurt to ask. I believe Mike S. has close business relationship with FJ also.

No kidding! This was up in Canada, I presume ? I heard of Mike's early childhood in person and nothing but respect and amazement with his life story.

Good luck with the PPI.

No Jimmy, it was in Southern California back in the 60s-70s. So not his childhood, but he, his wife, and kids.

But now that I think back about those days, it strikes me that I can't ever recall seeing a Ferrari out front. The epicenter of car culture, one would have stuck out like a sore thumb. Maybe that's why he didn't....

My bad, getting senile. I understand back then Mike had a big operation then.

All makes sense. Thanx for the clarification.
