First time Ferrari buyer, f430 help!

Hello everyone! Considering getting into a Ferrari and have always been an admirer of the F430. I came across this one:

Used 2005 Ferrari F430 For Sale | Greenwich CT

its a 2005 with Carbon Ceramics and F1. Red and tan interior. 10k miles. The asking price is 126,900. What do you think about the price?

Before purchase I plan to get a report on how much clutch life is left and and how the brakes are. Are there any other things I should take into consideration? (other than visuals)

The car is Ferrari certified, so it comes with a 1 year warranty. Should I also get a PPI if it comes with a warranty?

Please feel free to educate me about things to look out for and any suggestions you might have. Hope to join the club soon! Thank you!

Welcome to Ferrari Life. Be advised Ferrari certified does not mean she comes with a warranty. Make sure she does not still have the old exhaust manifolds that tend to crack.

I would most definitely have an independent PPI carried out, irrespective if it comes with a warranty or not, reason being I bought a 2008 4k mile F430 Spider from a UK Ferrari Dealer that was Used Approved & came with a 2 Year Warranry, however, on arrival I noticed a few things not quite right, despite being told it was 'mint', so I had a PPI done and the report that came back was 4 pages long of defects, so I rejected the car, but it took the involment if Ferrari UK to clear the matter up. Now I always get a PPI carried out unless Im buying new or from my 3 Trusted Ferrari Dealers who know what Im like & they would never try to pass off anything that was less than perfect to me...

Good luck in your hunt & purchase.

Natman, welcome to Ferrari Life. A PPI is always a wise move, and post this in the section where the 430 guys are to get some more tips on what to look for in this particular model.

Keep us appraised of how the search is going and posting pictures never hurts because the knowledge of the guys on this site - they will see things you won't see so take some pics and post them here and ask guys what they think. Close up shots are better as most Ferrari's look good from 10 feet...just my .02

Best of luck in the hunt!

Thank you all for the tips. I guess I will get a PPI done once I find one I really like.

Did the F430s ever come with Red/ Black interior? I've only seen them with Red/Tan interior for sale. What does everything think of the asking price?

Just saw a complete, 13 page service record for this car. A little confusing but I did see that the exhaust manifold was replaced in 2009, so the car should have the new updated exhaust manifold?

Affirmative, Those are the new manifolds, probably done under the 8 year emissions warranty.

Thought of one other thing, too. Early 2005 F430s still used the 360 F1 pump, which has to work pretty hard to power both the F1 system and the E-Diff. At Assembly Number 61589 (for F1 F430s) an upgraded, more powerful pump was installed which has proven to be more reliable.

Not as big an issue on 3 pedal F430s because the F1 pump only has to power the E-Diff.

Can I tell which number it is from the VIN or service record?

Thank you! Very useful information, I appreciate it

No, you would have to look for the Assembly Number. You can download F430 owners manuals and an early workshop manual (incomplete) for free at ferraridatabase.com. They will show you where the AN is.

I would consider this one too...

The F430 you are looking at looks like a great car.I love the particullar red they choose for it,it looks like Rosso Scuderia too me,correct me if i am wrong. As far as i have read and heard the cars sold from Miller Motorcars range from good to perfect examples.Though i would also consider the car of the link ( i can't resist looking at all the Ferrari inventory every time a look at a dealership's website , since it also looks like a really good car,and you got that all important button in the rear of the center console, and the best part is that a lot of people have said that even with the roof closed (since it's a soft top) you can still listen to the music without any big change on the volume .

Yes! That is a nice example as well! Unfortunately that one doesnt have the carbon ceramics which I want. Also thought my first Ferrari should be red haha.

Looking at my serial number vs assembly number lists, it looks like the upgraded F1 pump was fitted beginning around the serial number range 1439xx-1440xx. This Miller F430 has the new pump and has my favorite color interior, cuoio, along with Rosso Corsa paint.

Great to see! Want to go check her out real bad, but I am traveling hope no one snatches her up in the meantime haha.

Love the paint as well, actually prefer the black interior but this Cuoio is def my second favorite.

Thank you so much for your help thus far.

pro-tip. never post the link to the car. there are lots of people looking for 430's and you may not want to tip your hand. otherwise, good luck on a great car and welcome. Oh, and get an independent PPI no matter what.

Eds kind of right. It was rather strange when I was shopping that almost every single F430 I was interested in and posted here, got soldout from under me! hmmm...strange phenomenon. Well, good thing is there are a LOT of F430's out there. Good luck!
