Default Advice on first Ferrari

Ok everybody, so I am in the market for my first Ferrari. I had the opportunity to drive my friends 458 and was absolutely blown away. Thus said, the 458 is an absolute possibility. However, I am open to other options. I have also been looking quite heavily at the 599. If anybody has experience with these two cars any comparisons would be great. I understand they are very different, one being mid engined v8 and the other a gt v12. I have heard good things about the 612 as well. Open to any and all advice.

welcome. Wow, that range is almost all over the board. I know some will post direct experience, but my two cents are:
- 599 vs 612: 599

a 12 vs 8 is a different animal. You'll most certainly need to drive one to understand.

Yes I understand I covered a range of classes there. My plan as of now is to find a 599 I can drive to draw further comparison for myself. My main dilemma right now is the V12 vs V8. Which, in the case of the 458 and 599, also means mid engined vs gt car.
