Default A Question about the Ferrari 360 Challenge.

Hey everyone,

Bare with me for abit, it is my first post after all.

To start off, Im a racing driver here in Canada and also do much promotional work for my sponsors and myself.

Anyways long story but I have sitting in my garage a Ferrari 360 Challenge race car that is not really worth much to anyone. My Sponsors have given it to me for use as a promotional vehicle for them and we both came to the conclusion that it might be best to convert the car to road worthy status, however, trying to keep it as close to its racing pedigree as possible.

In short, what is the best way to make a Challenge race car road legal with the least modification.

Thanks, hopefully i can get some answers soon!

For entertainment reference (I guess) you can actually see the car in this video from a local karting race.

Depends on the geographical region but technically it should be impossible to register it because the chassis number designations. Some people in Europe however have been able to modify them and convert to road legal requirements enough to pass a single vehicle type approval scheme. SVA which is used for kit cars. Unsure there is similar thing in your area. Think its not likely possible.

If you want to do it things such as rollbar need to be removed, handbrake cable re-installed. Emissions hardware, seat belts, etc. fully functional lights and horn, etc. Its quite a challenge (excuse the pun...).

Strive for perfection in everything we do. Take the best that exists and make it better.
When it does not exist, design it. Accept nothing nearly right or good enough.

Contact Transport Canada and ask them what needs to be done. They maintain a list of admissible cars and, as a race car, your 360 Challenge is not on it. They should be able to tell you what needs to be done to legalize the car. Probably prohibitively expensive to do so, considering how much the car would be worth after conversion. There may be a limited use registration available with less strict requirements.

Hi CanadaRacer,

Sorry I can't be much more help re: legalizing the car for road use; the comments above sum it up very nicely.

However! have you thought about selling or leasing the car to a track (or multi-track-operating corporation) that could rent the car out as a track day vehicle? Might be an avenue to consider to maximise utility from the car.. I would bet that if there were a Challenge car at Mission raceway here in BC, there would be a line-up of enthusiasts with chequebook in hand..

The car belongs to the bank. If the story is true , the car was a lease return or a repo. The car is only good for track use. I tried to buy the car last year. They want to much money. The car would be great for the new ferrari race series in the USA . The challenge car race . ( CCR ) CHECK IT OUT.
Thanks.
Alex.
