Default FLED #2 What will you bring ?

Boxer - now that I have seen your old 308 last week with our friend Vitalone, which was running sweet as a nut BTW, I have seen and heard two of the four cars in these photos. Time for the big guns - what are you bringing to FLED II?

I will likely be bringing two cars down. The F50 and probably the Daytona.

Fantastic! It will be of great interest to me to hear the difference between the flat-12 365 of my Boxer and the V12 365 of your Daytona. They're very closely related but fundamentally different of course. And I've never seen or heard an F50 in action so that will be a special treat as well.

Is it June, yet?

Since we created a thread of this (good idea Boxer!), let me put down my steed as well: I'll be bringing the 365 GT4/BB.

Besides the cars, will any of you bring along your wife/girlfriend or any female? Just curious because my girl doesn't even LOOK at my bike! LOL

And it will be quite a sight, all those incredible cars together!! I hope that you remember us, the poor mates that won't make it to the trip, and take thousands of pictures and videos!

Well - I gave the Boxer a run tonight and she's sounding like a dog's breakfast. The guys have set her too rich and I don't have time to get it corrected before FLED2. So the 365BB is not coming.

On the positive side - it looks I'll be bringing my 3rd Ferrari, freshly purchased this week. I don't want to jinx it but if all goes well I should have a 330GTC in my stable by next week. A breathtakingly gorgeous example. Fingers crossed!

In my case, final decision will be made right before the trip based on the weather forecast.

It is an ANSA exhaust, not standard. They are basically a period sports exhaust, with a great sound. Not sure when the original was changed out but they have been on for a very long time. The only thing that irritates me is that they're skew (right side lower than left) but you can't correct it as the pipes are way too thick. Oh well.

I took her for a run today, again, with Vitalone and his spirit must have pleased "her beastiness" because she ran beautifully today, for at least 95% of the time. Sometimes the roughness returned but then it was gone very quickly again. Wonder what it is. Anyway, it was a lovely short run and Vitalone got to experience what a 365BB is all about. That screaming flat-12 is just mind blowing.

As for the 330GTC - the owner I'm buying it from is very private and I won't post pics until the deal is completed. But she is gorgeous - Blu Sera with Nero leather interior. Air con and period stereo. The restoration (no panels replaced, no rot found) was done in 1990 - 1993 and she's still wearing the paint from then but looks like it was done yesterday. To get the panels immaculate the restorer used the old "tinning" method, instead of plaster. This is very expensive and hardly gets done any more but the result is worth it! Even from below everything looks straight and perfect. The current owner is very meticulous with all his cars and it shows. The gear change on this car is like silk and she starts immediately with hardly any smoke. She's got uprated suspension and slight negative camber to accommodate sporty driving and I've seen pictures of her going fully sideways in a cloud of smoke - not the sort of thing you see often of a 330GTC! This is no museum car - she's been driven with passion and has been taken all over Europe.

I'm very pleased the owner thought me worthy to take over his car, and that is exactly what happened. He allowed me to buy it - it was not easy for him to let the car go after 21 years. The downside is that everyone in Holland knows that car and I can now never show up anywhere without it being immaculate! I don't mind - it will be an honour to keep the car in the condition it is now. She was expensive but worth every penny.

I used to drive my 330 GTC twice on a track...a worthwhile experience, especially the feel of when the back slowly and totally contolable is starting to come...! Veeeery nice !

I did. I don't really like to put people down in a public forum but I'll send you a PM with my opinion. Let's just say that VSOC did not take me as serious as they should have and that the car is not concours quality.

The 330 GT 2+2 in FLQ Issue #1 was a VSOC car.

Indeed I had the privilege of taking the wheel of Onno's 365BB thanks to Onno's kind generosity. Onno drove us to a quiet, fast road and then kindly allowed me to take the reins. This is a spectacular car, in apprearance, originality and most importantly in driving. Whereas the 512BB is brutal, the 365BB is savage. The 512 roars, the 365 screams. For longer distances the 512 is quieter with longer legs. But for excitement and music, the 365BB is the one. Below 5000rpm the 512 and 365 feel similar both with flat spots around 2000-3000rpm. The 365 does need more revs to get off the line and is more demanding than the 512, itself hardly a soft car. However from 5000 upwards the 365 is in a different league: faster, happier to rev and that music (especially at 7000 and a bit more!) This is one of the most exciting cars I have ever driven and must be the closest in excitment, feel and sound to a roadgoing 1970/1 Ferrari 512S/M and Porsche 917. Oh man I can still hear that savage scream as we go through the gears! Many thanks Onno.

PS I have seen Onno's 330 GTC and it is superb not just in appearance and condition but also set up to be driven fast by a fastidious and very knowledgeable connoisseur. Unbelievable!

Wonderful to hear great reports on 365 BB and to know that this marvelous BB has met drivers that can truly appreciate BB's virtues and spirits. Thanx for sharing your excitement with this epoch making midmounted flat 12 !!! More would be welcome. w/ smiles Jimmy
