It's likely that I'll be making a 1400 mile road trip in the next couple of days, bringing a late model ('99) car back to TX from the DC area, and I'm starting to line up resources I can call on in the event of a breakdown. Once I leave DC, there will be only 2 Ferrari dealers enroute, until I arrive in Houston, (Foreign Cars Italia in Greensboro, NC, and Ferrari of Atlanta), but I'm sure there are some good independent shops along the way? My route will generally be along Interstates 81/59/20/10, so, I'd very much appreciate hearing from anyone who has had good experience with service shops in, or near these cities: Harrisonburg, VA Charlottesville, VA Roanoke, VA Knoxville, TN Chattanooga, TN Birmingham, AL Meridian, MS New Orleans, LA Baton Rouge, LA Lafayette, LA Beaumont, TX Just as handy to know would be any shops NOT to call in these areas. Feel free to post or if you prefer, PM me. Sincere thanks in advance. This is a brilliant thread. Unfortunately to my knowledge most people in those areas have become accustomed to shipping their cars to the places you've mentioned. Hopefully someone else has a more helpful piece of info. |

| Many thanks Bryan! Wish I had your confidence..... I'm trying to figure out how many handtools I can cram into a carryon. If I check them, they're sure to be stolen by the TSA goons. The guy at FoW gives me the spiel about how they're a topline Ferrari dealership that stands behind their cars, new or used, so I asked how he plans to stand behind it when it breaks down on the way? End of spiel..... '99 550, Rosso Corsa / Nero, S/N:114654, Assy: 31836, Engine: 52084 High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars. |

Slight change in plans. The deal went through on the car this week, but I decided to leave it with ECS for servicing. I'll pick it up in December and may still decide to drive it to Houston, depending on how foul the weather is. So I'd still very much appreciate any additional owners' experiences with good (or bad) shops along the way.
