A few things starting with the expression on your face after having noticed the showgirls....priceless.

What a lovely experience it must have been for you to participate and be around all those wonderful cars.

I clearly missed the thread originally but am happy to have been shown it thank you.
Voltage regulators were notoriously unreliable back in the day was it the battery that had a dead cell eventually?
As to the clutch fluid did you determine whether it was the cause? I think not?
Maybe an overheated clutch disc as slip (if I understood the symptom correctly) will only be caused by a weak pressure plate or failing friction material on the clutch disc.

Now try and squeeze the last of the pictures and or video from your camera and post.

Really like the elbow resting on the window edge in the 1st picture on the track.

Excellent new pics and tales Onno. Exactly what a classic Ferrari should be used for.

No, the problem was as I described. If the fluid boils in the system then you can't build up pressure properly. Consequently, your clutch pedal starts dropping to the floor slowly, until it's so close to the floor that you can't build up enough pressure anymore to change gears. Letting the car run at lower revs for a little while solved the problem, as the temperature of the engine dropped a bit.

I guess my brother trusted me to keep between the lines. The shot was taken at Fiorano, BTW.

Onno- Your 15 minutes of fame in that bar. I think I would have been smiling, too, and you were at just the correct height for the showgirls.

I've driven around it twice now, and not yet completed a lap!

First in the 550 to get to the parking for the 2009 RM Auction, and second the time trial in the Mille Miglia. Neither was a full lap.

I've understood that it's possible to get a couple of laps when I pick up the 458. I must go back to organising! Would be great to take the new baby around for a couple of laps. The other I really, really, REALLY want to do is bag a lap or two in the 3 seater F1 car.
