As per Barry's idea in the above thread, is there any interest for this? If we do Scotland, it would be great to see Gavin and Marlin and any of the others from North of the border and as a bonus you can suggest a route

Ideal times for me would be to set off on a Friday morning and return on the Sunday afternoon or evening.

Put your name and available dates down if you are interested.

Archie - 2nd, 3rd and 4th weekend of October are free.

3rd and 4th (and 5th - Sat 31st) weekend in October are ok for me. Also 3rd or 4th weekend in Sept look OK at present.

If we are looking at a UK run, I would probably aim to arrive by ferry to Holyhead Friday a.m. and get a Sunday evening ferry back to Dublin. Where we go after that, I'm easy.

Will definitely bring a small passenger (provided he's not the only child attending! (Archie what age is your son? If I recall from photos probably older than mine - who's 5).

Barry.

Barry, my son is nearly 7, so similar age to yours. Yes, I'll definitely bring him if we get this sorted. He'll never forgive me if I don't take him.

I can't do Sept as I'm going to Singapore for the F1 (thanks to Cap't Pete)

Well as much as Scotland would/will undoubtably be fun, the F1 in Singapore probably trumps it. Look's like it's October so.

212 - all the other weekends in Oct out for you?

Unfortunately yes (with a very small chance for the 2 nd. October weekend (9/10/11/12)). Sad, I'd love to encounter the Island. Would bring my daughter (10) or my wife with me.

That's a pity 212. Unfortunately that weekend is definitely out for me.

Here's another suggestion - if Scotland was not on the route, we could all go to the Isle of Man and drive the TT circuit (no speed limits on the mountain stretchs!!!)

regards
Barry

IOM sounds good to me too TBH anywhere driving a Ferrari with friends is good for me.

As it's short notice and the winter is approaching, if we can't get dates that suit a majority, we could always consider April next year to ensure we get a good turnout and hopefully some of our friends from mainland Europe will make it too?

Agreed, April is too far away, perhaps we should all put ski's on our cars and come to see you in Switzerland for Christmas

Well, if we keep it cheap and cheerful and only a weekend, sure why not do both, Oct and April??

The IOM idea is growing on me. I'm thinking of the various Top Gear shows that were filmed there, plus having ridden the TT track on a motorbike, I'm fairly sure that it would be just as much fun in a Ferrari!

that said, I'm in your boat Archie, anywhere at all when you can drive around in good company (cars and their drivers!) would suit me...

Now there is a plan. Is there a ski hatch behind the seats in a 360????

Isle of Man must be phantastic !! I just measured the driving distance from my home to IOM..its 1452km one way. Thats sounds like an easy one day trip to you there. Drive 2 days up and down the island and after again 1452km back home. After all its about the same distance in 4 days which the Comp. Daytona's used to drive in Le Mans in 24 hours from '71 - 76'

212 - you'd do it no problem. Fill the tank, point the F car north and before you know it you'd be caning it down the mountains, along the long straight from Kate's cottage and around Creg Na Baa back into Douglas for a pint.

Depending on how much interest we generate as there are only a few European based members here, does anyone object if I post this on a very small private members forum that myself and a few other UK Ferrari Life members frequent? There are some great guys over there who I'm sure will be keen to join our trip. I met up with some of them for a great drive in the Thames Valley a few weeks ago

The TT circuit sounds great Barry. What are the hotels and catering like?

Are there still ferries to IOM from Liverpool or North Wales?

Definitely ferries from Liverpool and I think from Holyhead too. Check out www dot steampacket dot co dot uk (think that's the address anyway).

I believe hotels are OK in IOM (last time i stayed with a mate) - in late Oct I imaging you could take your pick as it would be pretty quite. Local beer is very nice if I remember correctly and the roads are pretty much empty (provided it's not TT week!!)

Plus it's probably the safest possible place for the cars - gotta get them on a Ferry if you steal one!!

Just found this on a quick google search. Not many ferries each week from the Emerald Isle Barry, looks like you'll have to put the 360 in a dinghey and row yourself

Yes, usually they used it for the Golf clubs but short sized "acrobatic" ski's for those "highflyers" are fitting very well.....

Thats a great suggestion. I'm just afraid that you would need to leave your F.car at home. Only if you find a snow-shoovel to put in front or if you can be sure that your car is 100% aluminium/alloy as the salted street will eat'em otherwise.

Just did this as a test to find out the cost of the ferry. £200 GBP for a car and two people sounds quite good. They also do hotel packages too.
