Default My Ferrari Berlinetta Lusso

This is a photo of me at the wheel of my Berlinetta Lusso. Yesterday, I received these photos from a family friend and I cannot thank him enough as they are the only ones I have of me with the Lusso. Here we are seen arriving at his beach house in Leucadia. At the time I was 17--"It was a very good year..."

Stephen- Great period photo. The only photos I have of my early cars (Corvettes mostly) were taken by others and given to me.

Great photo, great time, great car especially when compared to what is visible in the background as a "intime" comparison. The presence of the Lusso can not be beaten. Yes indeed..."it was a very good year" ! (even Franky boy would be smiling)

Most of my belongings were lost after a 'misunderstanding' following a divorce. I have been lucky that people like Larry Crane and Chuck Queener took pictures of the GTO when I owned it because all that survived were six photos from an Instamatic. To receive these photos of the Lusso is a real delight!

Stephen, how did the Lusso's 4 gear-box compared to your later 5 gear box experiences ?

During our stay at the beach house, I looked for every opportunity to give rides in the Lusso to anyone who wanted one. Here we pause for a photo op with my sisters Rita and Risa (left & center) and Barbara Day (right) before taking Barbara's father Ben for a ride.

The Lusso box was a good one but you had to be a little careful with the clutch when engaging it. Shifting was much improved over the Moss box on my E-Type, which I sold to buy the Lusso. The GTO gearbox was more robust and I have never used a smoother shifting gearbox--no resistance; 'snick-snick' and you're in the next gear. Also, there was no need to be delicate with the clutch.

An acquaintance is currently restoring his Lusso and some evidence suggests it could be mine--original paint, carpet fiber color and repaired body damage.
