I don't know much about the Le Mans classic. Is it a 24hr race? Or a series of races over the weekend? Either way I'm sure it would be fun. Another option would be to consider the Silverstone Classic in late July. It's supposed to be a great weekend and you would be in Silverstone almost as quick as you would be in Le Mans. I can recommend a very good B&B with safe parking and only a few min walk from the circuit. Plus this year is the celebration of 25 yrs of F40 at the event. Le Mans classic is probably the biggest event in the world at the time with about 100'000 spectators expected. Its actual racing of classic cars only in 4-6 categories, even during the night. Instead of 24 hours driving for everybody, they organize something like 6 different 1 hour stints for each class (with half an hour non racing stop inbetween the classes) and this continously for 24 hours, so also during the night. There is also a large besides program, festivities and all else. Have a look at: Le Mans Classic - YouTube look into 4:15 minutes. Looks great, 212! Are you planning to watch? Unfortunately I have guests arriving from Asia that weekend, maybe I can persuade the husband to escape to Le Mans for 7/8 July. It is driveable from here. Gus Quit work - Get some stuff - Go somewhere - Have some fun |

I'm going to be there, but most probably in my Morgan Aero 8 as I'm going with a group of Morgan owners. We stay in a hotel literally on the Mulsanne straight after the first chicane which gives fantastic nighttime viewing, 20m from the bar ![]() It's a great occasion, trying to morph into a Revival type meeting with lots of period dress and displays but a lot more eclectic. It was baking hot in 2010 which was a tad off putting but a really great and not too overcrowded occasion. For the who have been to regular Le Mans recently, it's nothing like that, with very little if any Chav type over exuberance. |
