Default F50 at Copart

A friend of mine who owns some high end dealerships in Louisville called me this morning.

Apparently there is an F50 in Kentucky at Copart that is going to be auctioned off.

He said it was stolen and later wrecked by the Gov't officials joy riding.

Apparently the tub has to be replaced.

I will bid on this and most likely be unsuccessful - but if I do what a fun project.

Disclaimer - by reading this post you are forbidden to bid on this car

That's a claimer, not a disclaimer.

I've read about this car quite a few times. Not going to be cheap to get that back up to where it should be, and you'll always have the history to content with.

But good luck with it. It sure is a rare car and quite a few have been wrecked, so it's worth saving.

Thanks

I agree with the history - but despise selling anything at the end of the day.

You know about this car - share my man share....

The thought making it my kids problem in itself makes it worthy

I like restoration projects - it's a hobby and to be honest probably one of the cheapest hobbies a married guy can have.

The car's story has made the rounds for quite some time. Just surprised to see it up for sale.

The car is likely one of the most well know F50s ever made. Good, bad or otherwise...
Doug, any idea your bid ceiling? Feel free to PM me.

Thanks a few people suggested that - he would be a nice addition to this forum.

Not too many degrees of separation in the car world.

.
RufMD was active here a few years ago. Would be good to have him back.

He did write an article for one of the issues of FLQ.

I know he posts a lot on team speed or whatever it's called.

When and if I get in touch with him the last note will be FLife

He may already have a belly full of this particular car - can't say I blame him.

I have heard of this car as well, seems like an interesting opportunity. it will probably go for far more than what it is worth.

Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway!

Whatever it goes for is what it is worth

Market conditions are what they are - which is why I will most likely not be the high bidder.

It's rare and it's fast but most of all it's a Ferrari and that combinations is good enough for me - could care less if it's only scar is a salvage title - problem is I think many others are of the same opinion.

Just called copart - they said it is sold!!!!!!

I then called my buddy and he said sorry - it's not his fault he was just informing of what he saw and assumed it would be up for auction which I appreciate ... oh well.

Does make me wonder if he was just screwing with me - best part will be getting even.

Apparently it went on last week and sold per the manager and he would not disclose the price.

You did well to avoid that F50.

If a car could be cursed, it was that one.

Taking on cursed projects is my claim to fame.

What motivates me is when people say what I can't do - in this case I do believe your right - but whatever I lost on paper ... I have done far worse and lived

My wife goes thru horses at a pretty rapid rate by competing in the hunters and jumpers class requiring six to show two to three.

In the scheme of things the car world is a lot cheaper than the horse world.

When they get wrecked - it's a year or two of rehab and chances are high they are worthless.

I am way overdue for the next step - just need to learn more from guys like you.
