Hi all got home early yesterday, and with it being dry and bright, i decided to take the car out for a wee rip. as i came out i noticed that the car looked odd! quite yellow on the wings and bonnet. with little brown spots. Hmm me wee heart skipped a few beats. on inspection it seems that the clear rap has gone yellow so i have now removed the rap from both wings, and have applied 3 coats of wax. has any one else come across this ? and if left as it is , will it cause any long term effects to the paint work. the bonnet is fine with no sign of yellowing, however i am concerned about the carbon. answers on a post card please. |

What model Ferrari do you own? Was the car in a garage, or parked outside in the sun? How long was sitting since the last time you drove it? Can you post pictures?

How long has it had the clear bra? Since new? If so, then maybe it was low grade film and has run its course.

it was on the car when a got it some 12 weeks ago, however being the winter, low light ect it looked ok as you say it could have run its course. its now removed, but it did look very yellow when i removed it. It did come of quite easy, i used a hair dryer, however its on the carbon bits and would it cause any long term problems if left as is.

should not cause any problem, but i guess it could turn yellow. Not a fan of the film myself, but if you replace it, i would get a better brand. Don't think i have ever heard this before.

I should have taken some before and after shots. however the spots on the front have buffed out. very strange, as the garage is dry, warm, and the car has its own cover. Just goes to show the difference in winter light, and the first sunshine of the year how things do look very different. |

New one to me. Should not have done any permanent damage to the carbon though.

Probably only noticeable on white paint. Any other color and it would gradually cause a slight color shift that might go undetected.

My neighbor experienced exactly the same fade-to-pale-yellow with a clear bra on his white Z3 M coupe, so I agree with tanzandjan.
