Gary Welcome to Ferrari Life. Given the nature of the site you're probably going to get a slightly biased answer here. I've never owned the V12 vantage, but did own a V8 V for a couple years. It's a great car, but I'd take a 430 over it any day! At 53, your not too old for it, come to think of it any age is the perfect age for a Ferrari... Good luck with your deliberations. Make sure and let us know how you get on. Barry Ferrari's: 360 Modena F1, 308 GT4 Other Italians: Ducati 916, Ducati 848 DD's: RR Sport, BMW 645ci, BMW 1200GS Adv. |

| Well...to start with, you obviously have brains. Who's your sons mother? lemme guess...Blonde. Sorry..that might be to close, It was intended humorously. Its a disease I have, KTS...Keyboard Tourettes Syndrome. I'm 51 and if my son said I was to old for anything he'd soon be paying rent. Pick the one YOU like, and as Barry said, Welcome aboard. I can tell you this - my neighbor owned a 430 and bought a 458. One year later traded the 430 on the V12 Vantage ... stick for stick The Vantage V12 is a very fast car - but the 430 is a very fast well handling car. In other words an Aston would be great if you own a Ferrari ![]() I have always liked Astons and Bentleys - but everytime I come close to the car I feel too young at age 50. Astons are beautiful cars - Ferrari's are dead sexy. |

| Ah youth, it is indeed wasted on the young... I was 53 when I bought my 360. I'm not too old. Then again, impressing young boys never entered into the decision. Conversely, everywhere I've gone, yonger women seem to like it. Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most. |

Hi Gary and welcome! IMHO your choice should be based on 1 thing only; which car makes your heartbeat go up...in other words, what do you want to drive...? Being a Aston Martin owner you know what it's like, even though the V12 will differ from the V8, it's still rather the same...a Ferrari, well, just isn't! I get to drive my friends AM V8 V occaissionally but it just doesn't give me the thrill my F-car does, but that is personal I guess....I'd say find one and test drive it so you know first hand what it's like! (and ignore your son...) :-) Hope this helps! Keyboard Tourettes Syndrome.... I like that. You're not the only one who suffers from it Lane..... quite a few comedians on here have it. I think it was Enzo that said he built cars for young men that only old men could afford..... Gary get the Ferrari... you'll thank us all later. | +1. Test drive a few and that should do it. Let your heart make the decision, instead of logic. Good luck with your search. w/ smiles Jimmy

Perhaps your son is thinking of his own inheritance? A wise old man once told me this about our cars: "We don't own them per se. We are but the caretakers's for the next generation." Either car is great; but you will relive your misspent youth with a Ferrari.
