Default A honest opinion about Ferrari & Maserati

I've recently driven an F430 & a Maserati GranTurismo, and honestly I like the GranTurismo better. I tried loving a Ferrari, but ever since they started weighing the car down with excessive electronics & a floppy paddle gearbox, I've never been able to like them in the same way I've loved a Maser.

So why not buy the Maserati? Why do you need us?

Thanx for your opinion, Joesephina. Likes and dislikes are subjective things that we all have and differ at times, which should be that way. It is great that you were able to compare and come to your conclusion. When it comes down to it,... that is what counts. Altho, it might have been a bit better if you gave your reasons for your preference, in order for the rest to appreciate your choice. w/ smiles Jimmy

You don't have to - pretty sure Ferrari stopped making the 430.

What you do need to know is - Ferrari only makes cars they have sold.

So insulting the car carries no weight - as you are only insulting the owner.

Maserati on the other hand builds dealer stock - so you go on over to those showrooms and tell the dealers exactly how much you like those new cars sitting in inventory.

I love the F430 and would take one over every maserati. Not that it's a fair comparison, they are apples and oranges.

met someone last night that likes his camaro better than my 328. So what? he got to drive home the car he liked and i got to drive home the one i liked. worked out great.

Terry you could not do so if you tried - one would have to think like this which he does.

There is an embedded logical fallacy in your statement: Maser GT has paddles. Maser GT is 1,880 kg (4,100 lb); Ferrari 430 is 1450 kg (3197 lb).

Doug- You have to remember I am one of those guys who sat nuclear (Victor) alert for years, taught nuclear weapons, was a major command voting member on the Nuclear Weapon System Safety Group, and recently turned down a job as a senior physicist at the Nuclear Weapons Center. Sounded perfectly normal to me.

Totally understandable - but he applies that same thought process on an internet car forum.

Just curious why you turned it down - I could not handle that responsibility or pressure.

The car I had before my 612 HGTS was a Granturismo S MC shift. I honestly cannot think of one single aspect where the Maserati was superior to the Ferrari and that even includes the sound.

Don't get me wrong the granturismo S is an excellent car which I enjoyed but it doesn't hold a candle to the 612 and why should it just look at the list price!

I suppose where the Maserati beats the Ferrari hands down is with the amount of attention it attracts........lol

Default Masi -ferr

the first time i saw a Maserati Gran tour,,,i was in Italy at an auto grill..im not sure what area it was ,,maybe on the way to Firenza....it was parked ,,and a couple was fast asleep..inside the car,,,they looked quite comfortable...!!!...i have always liked Maseratis..since the 70 s,,,and i did like the Gran Tourismo..i dont believe their marketing,,is aimed at the same clientel,,but i might be wrong,,they are much different cars than Ferraris,..and apeal to a different crowd,,,i dont think most people who are in the positoin to buy either mark,,new,,are having to decide which to choose from,,,they either like and want the F car,,or they like and want the Masi...i myself,,,dont care whether or not either car will outperform the other,,,just like,,i dont care whether or not a particular Ferrari,,wins in a magazine shootout...against whatever competition...im cool with spicy conversation with other owners/enthusiasts about what Ferraris i think are the better than others,,,,thats fun,,,as far as the 430 goes,,,,i like it better than the 360,,,but i also think the 355 was the last real Ferrari looking Ferrari,,before the 458 came along,,, if i was rich,,,i might want to put the 430 engine ,,in the 355 ... NOW THAT WOULD BE SICK !!!..

Doug- My consulting work as a rocket scientist picked up and and I did not need the job. Doing a 7 to 5 job again that involved a lot of travel did not appeal to me, either. 40 years of getting up at 5 am was enough.

That job would have been much lower pressure than sitting alert, but I would still probably have had to do nuke surety inspections, and those are a lot of work with the possibility of ruining a bunch of careers. Some of which would deserve ruining, but still no fun.
