Which Ferrari would be the best option to choose out of a f355, f360, f430, or the 550? This is based on opinion and the best deal in terms of how much you would pay for it and the value that it would retain.

A question that people can't answer for you. You need to go and drive them as they are all quite different. The F430 will depreciate the most, but it's also the quickest car. The 355 seems the most expensive on the list with regard to maintaining. The 360 moved the ball game a lot compared to the 355 and is quite a bargain these days. But personally I think the 355 is much better looking. The 550 is just an awesome car, and my favourite of this list, but it is less in-your-face and more distinguished. This can be a plus or a minus, depending on your preferences. Onno |

Have you downloaded the buyer's guides. That was where I started years ago, and were of great reference. Other Buyer's guides out there on Amazon also, for the background portion. | I'll go even further; unless you're trying to decide between Enzo-ear cars, a retention of value discussion is an oxymoron. I recommend you start by developing a solid understanding of the market. To begine with, check out Mike Sheehan's site, he discusses the cars you list in depth. The Ferrari Market Letter is also a good resource. After that, our opinions can fill in and provide context. |

Your question is somewhat silly. It is like asking "Which should I date: blondes, brunettes, or redheads?" It is PURELY subjective. Do your research; try the Fchat forum as well as this one. |

I traveled to Monte Carlo on Friday to visit ferrari dealer SAMGF I have a LHD 84 308 which I imported from US to UK in 2002. I thought I would get more in sale/trade in on Continent. Monaco SAMGF people were very professional and I was told in Monaco little interest exists for older cars like 308 and later I could see what they meant when I saw 5 new ferrari cars in front of main Casino. I had been thinking about buying a used 355 with approx 20,000 miles but upon seeing ferrari newer cars I am now considering a 360. need advice re selling 308 in UK I am willing to have service done by ferrari dealer as long as it raises price of sale pound for pound. my car is a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 also any new posts on 2000 -2002 360 modena or spider

Monaco dealer, huh? I had trouble with my 330GTC last year and phoned them up. The mechanic said, and I quote: "You have a WHAT? Whahahahahaha! We don't do that old shit over here!". As you say - VERY professional. If they go out of business tomorrow, I will be popping the champagne. Onno |

Secondly, many now consider the 360 an "older" car as well. In any case, neither of these cars are considered "collector" cars in the sense that they'll appreciate or that you'll recoup your investment in them. They're simply used cars, albeit expensive ones. As a point of comparison, FOW frequently have 430s for sale, and the occasional 360. But the 360s are always ultra low mile, minty show cars. | |

F430 would be a good bet. I guarantee you that you would be satisfied with the quality and the pricing of this one. It look awesome too.

I would likely choose the 550 after spending the afternoon yesterday with my friend Matthew Ettinger who owns one. He can't say enough nice things about the car and he's owned the Breadvan, SEFAC SWBs, a Lusso, a 365 Boxer and a 348 GTB. But as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, it becomes a personal preference at some point. |

Out of the lot I've only driven a 550 and I'd pick that one as I'm biased to the V12. I'm certain they're all fun and tight to drive, however. It will come down to personal preference. I'd prefer to have them all however |

In the UK right now, best buy is probably still a 550/575 or maybe now a 612.

first of all,,,its great that your in a position to pick up any one of the machines mentioned..i myself like the looks of the 355 the best out of all the afformentioned,,,,but,,,obviously,,the 430 is the best mid mounted machine,,,,,the 430 has timing chains rather than belts,,one would think that would make for cheaper maintanence costs ,,,but im sure everything else necessary,,,will most likely make up the differnce,,,shops have to justify insane repair bills somehow,,,good luck with the purchase,,,..i myself,,,,would probably try and get out of the mid mounted V8 Ferrari game,,,keep my 328 and try and buy a 575...Brett
