Default 458 Italia Crash

''The following car crash happened in the UK. The wrecked Ferrari 458 Italia shown on the pictures and in the clip crashed into a truck. The exact cause of the accident was unknown but the fire department had to cut the roof off the brand new Ferrari 458 Italia to free the driver from his unlucky position. Luckily the driver survived.''

I haven't posted the link to the video as when you click on it, the video has been removed by the user. The heading of the video states Sprucefield Lisburn, which if I'm not mistaken, is in Northern Ireland.

Most importantly, luckily the driver survived this accident.

Guess this gives us a clue what the 458 spider may look like :-)

This happened about an hour up the road from my home. Apparently the driver is in intensive care at present but I can't confirm this to be the case. If he is, let's hope he makes a full recovery.

I'm missing something here; how can you stuff a 458 under a lorry and the driver's airbag not fire?

Or is it not contained in the steering wheel on the 458's?

High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars.

Apparently the guy (who had only picked the 458 up a few hours previously) had a massive aneurism, which ruptured and subsequently caused him to crash.

Still in ICU

Dont know him but by all accounts he is a really decent bloke.

Hope he pulls through...

I can confirm what Ian said. The guy is a genuine Ferrari enthusiast and had just collected the car from the local Ferrari dealer.
A family member has posted on one of the local forums to say his chances don't look good so the photos and video are being removed from local forums as respect to what has happened.

I only met the man concerned once but he was a decent bloke. Very sad.

Tragic. and a good reason for trucks to have much lower bumpers. pretty sure that is the law over here.

Thanks for the update and it's truely unfortunate news to hear about his condition.

Andrew or Boxer, could you guys please remove the pictures from my post. Thank you. I posted the pictures thinking the owner walked away from it. I think it's only best to do so out of respect as per the local forums.

This accident involved my dad, he had just collected the 458 earlier that day, as I left him down to the dealership in Belfast around lunch time. He is very ill, in a coma in intensive care, we really don't know what the outlook is, but he was a Ferrari fan, this was his 10th Ferrari, there was no speed or fault in the car involved, dad suffered a massive bleed in the brain prior to the accident, thank you to everyone who has wished him well, and to those that have made sick jokes at his expense - I pray you never find yourself in our position.

177 under what you must be going through I can on behalf of everyone here send our thoughts to all of your family. We really appreciate you taking time to post what happened. Being in N.I and Chairman of the NI Italian Motor Club and a fellow enthusiast I had asked the local forum mods to remove the photos but unfortunately its very hard to get sense into some people.

I wish your Dad well for a full recovery and that the future brings him back to his passion for cars.

Terribly difficult times for the loved ones. Let's hope that he can come thru the ICU and make steady recovery. Our prayers. Jimmy

l77hpm,

it just goes to show that even we as Ferrari owners are so quick to leap to conclusions.

I wish you every possible miracle coming your way, and I fervently hope that you and your family will find the strength to deal with whatever you need to deal with, which we will hope to be the best possible result.

I express sincere thanks for posting the true story and the very best to you and your family.

Wow just catching up on this thread, so sad to hear that the driver was actually injured despite reports in the original posts. My thoughts and prayers are with you 177hpm and your the family, I apologize for the feable attemt at humor in my earlier post that was clearly based on my ignorance or the seriousness of the situation. I feel totally gutted.

So much for integrity of the human body. I'm a medical photographer & have pretty much seen it all. Sometimes even I'm shocked. But when family views the pix it all goes to hell seeing the real deal for the first & last time. Sometimes the photos are the focus – when the person was at their high point in all ways. That’s want I love to provide. The dead at their best in 1 photo while they were most alive.

Finesse is everything.
