With diesel priced so...um...competatively...I'd recommend driving it yourself.

I'm assuming you want enclosed shipping. I used "Reliable" when I bought my car. They did a fine job as I'm sure many other companies can do. PM me if you need a contact number.

Chris... I was just thinking that. I'm quite sure that one can find a volunteer to do the job for you

If the car is a driver, drive it yourself and enjoy the trip.

If the car is really pristine and you don't want anything to happen to it, try Exotic Car Transport based in Orlando, Florida. I just dealt with Matt, one of the drivers from that company, and I have nothing but extremely positives to say about him. The truck was top-notch, too, in every respect.

Actually Chicago-Pete (the artist formerly known as Jersey-Pete) the cheapest way might to be take Chris up on his offer. Fly him to Jersey and let him drive the car to Chicago. I'm sure he'd do it for free, all you'd have to pay for is fuel and tolls. It's about 800 miles and a 13 hour drive and he's young enough to do it non-stop so you don't need to worry about the car being parked overnight somewhere. He's got a cell phone so you can always check on his progress. The only downside is that afterwards you'd have to clean out the McDonald's french fries from under the seat.

Actually, when are you planning on moving? I might be available to drive the car over to Chicago for you and you just fly me back to New Jersey. I'll drive down myself to New Jersey from Maine. The only downside is that afterwards you'd have to clean out the McDonald's french fries from under the seat.

Edit - I just looked it up. A one way ticket from Newark to Chicago (or the other way) is $139. 800 miles at 17 mpg works out to 47 gallons. At $4.35 per gallon thats $205 for gas. Add $30 for tolls (just a guess) and the total to have me or Chris move your car is $375. There's your benchmark when you go shopping for car shipping. You now know you can get your car moved for less than $400.

Pete, that is an absolutely splendid idea Psh, I'd even pay for the gas. So if my math is correct (if you look in my signature you told me math is easy, so it probably is.) The cost of moving by truck would have to beat $170...thus my bid is lower. hehe

Jersey Pete,
Firstly, congrats on your new job, I hope that the job and move are a success.

I'm happy to drive your car for you, I'll pay for the gas, but you'll have to pay for my return transatlantic flights (first class of course )

I'm sure you'll get it moved somehow, and best of luck.
