Earthlab estimates that every gallon of jet fuel burned produces 23.88 pounds of CO2. Since gasoline weights around 6.15 lbs per gallon, the oxygen must weight 17.73 lbs. not counting the other parts of gasoline. I am not a chemist. Can anyone here explain this?

I think I can figure this out... but only if I get the relevant data in metric

I think I got the formula. I'll put a picture up of it after I eat dinner. Chris “ To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”-Anatole France "Dude, it's just math"-Pete |

Well this was my not so good attempt at the formula. This is what the bottom says, you can't read it in the picture I think this is the final formula Not sure though. That probably helped none, but I thought I would give it my best shot and see if anyone else on here can do it. I'm not even going to attempt the calculations due to my formula. My excuse is that this is organic chemistry and I don't take that until my winter semester next year ![]() Well I just thought I would show that I gave it the time of day to attempt ![]() Chris Edit: The final underlined formula cut off the 2 atoms of Nitrogen. It is 5.64 N2 “ To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”-Anatole France "Dude, it's just math"-Pete Last edited by Chrishawk4; 04-10-2008 at 03:43 PM.
