Default Bought a VIPER

I found an amazing deal on a 94 Dodge Viper RT/10 the other day and thought, "why not..."

Me and a buddy took the F355 today and picked it up. Driving the two 90s supercars back to back was really fun, and the two couldn't be more different. The Viper pulls like a train through the entire rpm range, while the 355 loves to be reved to make torque. The viper feels huge in comparison and really requires your full attention when driving. It is WIDE. The lack of abs, traction control, A/C, power steering and a roof also add to the pucker factor.

I won't be keeping the Viper too long however. I will likely drive it for a few weeks and put it on eBay at no reserve. Hopefully I might make a few $$$ in the process.

Early Vipers will teach you something about car control. Just be careful under braking. Distances are deceptively long without ABS, especially in the rain.

Congratulations!

Vipers are awesome - crazy straight line speed.

Post some Kodaks when you have a chance - be safe those things are beasts.

Looks great. Looks like she has updated wheels and tires, too. Back then 400 hp and 465 lb-ft was really something when Vettes were around 300 hp and 340 lb-ft. Of course the ZR-1 had 405 hp, but that was a $30K or so option.

Lol! Yeah, the tags aren't mine and won't stay.

Actually, the car is really rough cosmetically. Lots of scratches, paint work and interior rattles. That being said, mechanically its solid and it was such a good buy I couldn't turn it down.

Do you know anyone who wants a great toy for VIR? If so, let me know. This would be the perfect track car.

Don't blame you man. It's worth it to just bomb around for a few weeks while the weather is good. Just be sure to advertise it with pics at that same distance.

I'll put out a feeler, I'm sure someone will have interest. PM an asking price if you'd like.

She must have been almost free……I have been told, not my educated opinion as I have never owned one but I was told by previous Viper owners that they are junk…..Dodge is not allowed to make them anymore.

I have two friends who bought them and got rid of them like the plague…..Yeah, they have straight line power just don’t turn or drive in rain….LOL

Anyways, hope you make money on it….

BTW, the first pic is not the same as the others.....the seat color is not green like the rest......just an observation....

Actually, if you read the reviews from the period, the viper was compared to the 355, 993 turbo, supra turbo and others. The viper always beat every car in all categories except stoping distance. The Gen 1 cars pulled over 1g in the twisties, and actually handles better than all of the others.

And, in case you didn't notice, dodge has made the viper since 92 and hasn't missed a year since. They recently released the 2013 model.

An MR2 pulled 1G as well, that doesn't mean it was as good as Ferrari's and Porsches.

I also saw the Megafactory build and laughed my ass off, banging on the door for it to fit....loading a huge load on the roof for it to fit....and to ensure all panels are the right distance (gap) from each other, a girl rubs her hands all over the car HAHAHAHA.....Good thing Lambo designed their engine for them or else the V10 would not have worked....

Anyways, by the sound of your response you seem to adore the Viper.....good for you, you seem to have gotten a deal, hope you have fun, be carefull they bite like the real Vipers in corners......you can't drive her like your 355.....

Stay safe

Not to nitpick, but no MR2 ever pulled 1g in the skid pad.

The last figure is what I'm referencing.

And no, I don't "adore" the viper. I just appreciate it for what it is... An amazing mid 90s supercar that did what most other couldn't for 1/2 the price.

It has a place in history, and for the time being, a place in my garage. For that time, I'm gonna enjoy the crap out of it.

Dodge will not build the 2013 Viper, SRT will.

Vipers have pretty much always been able to kick most car's rear ends in performance, except in braking before they put in ABS into the car in 2001. Then its braking was comparable to its rivals. The Viper introduced some notable features, like VVT from a hollow camshaft with an additional cam inside that could be advanced and retarded.

The fire-breathing Viper sports car is back for a fifth generation, although this time around it ditches the Dodge nameplate and is instead marketed as an SRT model. While it gains a more refined interior and a number of technology and safety features in order to appeal to a larger audience, the latest Viper still possesses the arresting styling, supercar performance and wild character of the original.

You read your info I read mine.....when I owned my 93MR2 T she pulled like hell and remember reading back them .95 when they were comparing .97 for the Viper and 1.00 for the Vette and a Porsche doing 1.07....I even read that the new G35 does 1.01 but all these numbers are irrelevant…..who cares....never bought a car based on G's

All I know is the build was horrible and embarrassing. I was only talking about it because I saw it. Saw the Mega factories build of the Dodge Challenger and it was 10 times better than the Viper….why?

Any car that catches fire by the exhaust tailpipe just because you drive it hard is plan stupid…Clarkson even made sure to point it out. My friend had his car repainted twice because of it…..Like Larry the cable guy would say…..”I don’t care who you are that’s funny right there….”. Why didn’t Dodge build a traction control for the car to keep it in production anyways???? Why did they give up on their car????

Anyways. relax.....I'm only giving my opinion......don’t get all bent out of shape....I found it to be a cheap car, that's it. Just like most think my 348 is garbage....I was even told I should have bought a 308 instead as they got more respect than the 348 and that came from 2 Ferrari owners (360 and a 430) on 2 separate occasions. To each his own……I’m not a Viper man….. I’m giving my opinion….that’s it….no more no less…..You enjoy that car…..seriously, I’m not making fun of you….drive the hell out of it…..have fun…..and BE CAREFUL, they bite, I have heard the horror stories….

+1... a Dodge by any other name.

Wasn't Bondurant using these in his school until they proved to be too squirrelly to teach proper handling dynamics to the masses?

BTW, LC... it is a cool looking car with the chrome wheels and teal paint!
