Somehow the topic came up and got buried in another thread. Chas (guy incognito) started a company that caters to race car drivers and hobbyists looking to improve their racing skills. The idea of renting out racing simulators built by Chris of CXC the manufacturer and Chas the owner of Seat Time has allowed the two of them to team up which has been extremely successful. I am looking to purchase one in the very near future - hopefully we can get a group together and enjoy some good ole fashion racing in the comfort of our own home. Check it out http://cxcsimulations.com/ |

| Unfortunately it's not physical space that would be the limiting factor!

I spent a couple of hours in a very high end simulator (set up for GP3) earlier this week. Found it nauseating after about 20 minutes. Very realistic but the chassis movements did play a number on me. Funny because I never get sea sick and it never bothers me on a track when I am driving.

motion sickness, vertigo etc are all under "simulator adaption syndrome". here's a good article on it: http://www.simcreator.com/documents/...ptsyndrome.pdf and it happens to a lot of people, even professional drivers. Schumacher included. at any rate, I'd like to know more about the machine you used...was it a Cruden? cockpit simulator, I'm guessing? other than the sickness issue how was it? since you have a lot of fast cars and track experience, I'd like to hear your "seat of the pants" feedback. (wait, that could be misconstrued! )

Other than the motion nausea, it was pretty good. Steering and acceleration excellent. Negatives were no feedback on the brakes and lack of depth perception. Hard to pick turn in and braking points precisely. Boxer Current: F40, F50, 612, 430 Scuderia Past: 360 Modena, 360 Challenge, 550, 575, 365BB, 512BB, 456 GT, F355 GTS, 365 GTB/4 Daytona, 308 GTB | |
