Default Happy Hanukah

I lit the candles earlier ...

It says in the Talmud that if you save a life its like you saved the whole universe, every person has a unique face and perspective.

It follows then that a shared experience doubles the experience as each person experiences it differently.

Lil deep - but given the fact the troops are headed home ... thought it's time to pay it forward during the Holiday season.

Can any of you guys straighten me out. I've seen both 7 branch and 9 branch menorah's represented on various Hanukkah wishes. Its my understanding that they should be nine branch's signifying and in commemoration of the miracle where the oil lasted 9 days. WTF is the 7 branch one and why is it the one used to symbolize Israel?

Okie dokie

The Menorah that has 7 branches, is the oldest symbol of the Jewish religion.

It is found in almost every synagogue and is most often lit in advance of weekly Sabbath services on Friday evenings.

The Hanukiah, or 9-branch menorah, is used to commemorate the 8 days of Hannukah.

Keep in mind the whole holiday celebration is really to compete with one another and share similar holiday experiences.

Giving presents for 8 days is a lot of hard work

Thanks for the info. Like any good religion, its the spirit of competition fueled by guilt.

I'll be getting my new puppy around the first week of February. I'm expecting a gift or 2 every day for much more than 8 days.

100%!

Enjoy the new pup ... I have three dogs and the youngest a chocolate lab just turned 1.

Bought it under the influence at a charity fund raiser - most expensive dog and it's been on the payroll ever since.

Post some pics - when it arrives.

Will Do. You'll find him on a different thread dedicated to our best friends. My last Bully was on there. He passed 2 months ago.

Back to the topic...Happy Hanukkah to everyone!
