| We, drivers, have recently had an improvement in our safety. It is the LED light. It has replaced the incandescence bulb of the past. The reason is simple. The light comes on in a tenth of a second faster. Therefore we can reaction quicker. Going 60 mph, (100 kph), a tenth of a second can be long if you are under maximum brakeage. Many years ago my brother told me this story. A driver of endurance races was unhappy with another driver of endurance races. The driver had a brake light off-switch put into his racer. Once at a night race while this other driver was following him, he turn off his brake lights coming into a turn. The other driver was using his brake lights as a guide for him. He over shot the curve and was out of the race. Brake lights are important. Why do not racers today use brake lights? 12 cylinders or walk |
