Default Water filter

Anyone ever used one of these (or anything similar)?

According to the seller, no need to ever chamois your car again, and no more water spots.... can't be that easy... can it?

Barry- It should work fine. Filters like that are used commercially to produce bottled water. The big question would be how long will it last for 45 pounds?

I cheat and my entire house system and outdoor faucets are hooked up to a water softener system. No spots on my car after washing, either. The sprinkler system (I know, not much used in the Emerald Isle) has a bypass for the soft water, which uses salt to take out calcium, the primary cause of water spots.

it would work. but for how long? that little bit would be useless pretty quick. i use large commercial systems daily. If you really want to go that route, contact a water filter company and rent or buy one of their units. In the us it would be a company like culligan or hydro service. Since i have large commercial units in my shop, i could use it, but i don't. should tell you all you need to know. the best method for washing that i have found is to wash and rinse the car. there is a technique for rinsing that creates the least water droplets that is hard to explain. then i blow the water off with compressed air. same technique as a touchless car wash. works especially well with trim like mirrors, grill, lights. then i go over the entire car with some detailer spray and microfiber towels. best, quickest wash i have tried.

Just looked into this in a bit more detail. Based on my area I think that water filter would last about 20 washes!! I don't think a purchase will be happening any time soon....

Barry- That is actually longer than I thought they would last. About 2-3 pounds per wash.
