First Countach I ever saw with a pushrod V8. Great workmanship, though. Looks like he had enough time and money invested to buy a real one.

So, he builds it under his home.
breaks down his home's foundation to pull it out [quite a lump under the chin in one pic]
and stores it where?

Seems as Taz states was very expensive and an V8.

One the plus side, quite a project if true, and a bit of a mystery.

As far as "e could have just bought a Countach." Maybe, maybe not. This was done over a large span of time which he could have been saving money away in the meantime year after year OR he could go to the basement and crank out HIS vision. Job well done I say.

I was impressed with this when I saw it years ago and I still am today.

I am impressed - but isn't this also illegal?

Copying the name and design could result in his baby being confiscated - not sure what the time statue is but it would be interesting to hear some others chime in.

Not sure why but I thought it was 25 years - maybe that's why he decided to hide the project.

You echo my thoughts. It's not a Lambo but is dressed as one and labelled as such. No different to a Toyota MR2/F355 rebody other than he's open to legal action.

As a former employee of a large company that survives on patents/copyrights, let me tell you, the norm everyone usually hears about is 17 years. However, with the right lawyers , it can be extended for many more.

i don't think it's just as cool as a lambo. and it certainly isn't a lambo. it does seem to be a job well done though. i, personally, would be embarrassed to drive a car around that said countach and lambo on it when i knew it wasn't. that is called lying. take the badges off and tell everyone you meet it isn't a lambo and i'm all for it.

wonder if he made a fake rolex to wear when he drives it.

I couldn't imagine Lamborghini taking this lightly nor filling out the proper copyright papers to go beyond 17 years.

Don't get me wrong his work is incredible and it's his money ... but what a huge risk at the least change the name and markings.

This is not a patent issue at all. It would be an intellectual property issue more similar to a copyright, and those last way more than 17 years.

Like I said, great workmanshop, but why not put a V12 in it, even if it was not a Lamborghini V12?

Great workmanship spent on something that I fail to see the point of. But perhaps we should not see this as car building but scale model building with a scale of 1:1. I think the attraction of doing something like this has a lot to do with the attraction of building scale models. It's not about building a replica so much as the process of building itself, for which a shape was chosen that he happens to love.

I don't know exactly - if it isn't that, I can't for the life of me think why you would waste your precious time (and considerable money) on this. Because clearly it has very little to do with ending up with a Lamborghini.

This keeps coming round and round again and again.

I for one think he is a true Tifosi with lot's of passion. He is a craftsman with great skill no Doubt. Sure it's not real but it's also not gaudy like most other replicas. He loved the Brand thought could never afford one or for what ever reason just loved to build one for himself. Time patients is something this gentleman had, unfortunately not money as he sunk everything into this replica

With the money he spent on this after all bills were added up I bey he could have owned not one but 2 real Countach

I think most of you are missing the point. It’s not about buying a real Countach; this was about having a dream to build one and he created a masterpiece.

This is something that kept him busy and dreaming for years and years. I think this is totally cool and a million times better than those POS kits they sell out there with wrong proportions with having the need to destroy a car to achieve it….which is usually crap in the end that still have a 2.8 L engine or those freaks out therewith those Diablo’s, some are asking $40K and other builders $70-100K kits.

Even if he spent $50K to build it as I doubt it cost him 100K, he can say, I built it myself and a real ones is still worth over 6 figures and I have a more reliable engine that will cheaper to fix if anything happens. But either way, it’s his creation…

Edit. Found this on one website

XXXXXX is now offering Countach fiberglass body kits starting at $6,995 for body packages. Fiberglass body comes with individual fender flares and front bumper, wing, all compartment lids, dashboard, c-curve seat shells. Also offering to build new replica Lamborghini turnkey builds starting at $35k Fiero base or tubular steel frame base starting at $49k, your choice of paint color and custom interior, stereo system

This is sad.....

2nd edit: found this Real TR... and it put a tear to my eye......

that's funny because i actually respect the guy doing the tr conversion. sure it will look great when done. he is mistaken though, ferrari did make a couple of convertible tr's. i think one for an agnelli and one for the sultan. in fact, i think the sultan's is for sale now.
