Lucky lady.....usually does not end this way....I have seen some freaky $hit over the years in this industry....last nasty ingestion to date was in AZ..... 60 something ramp agent got eaten by a CFM on a 737.....man salad on the ramp..

When I was a kid working at a local FBO to pay for my flying lessons I saw some strange stuff on the flight line. Then, there was the time I cut the 100 octane avgas hose w/a twin engine airplane while I was taxiing after refueling. Not good. | Be careful. That's just what this passenger did when she exited the aircraft. The accident occured at night and that was another factor. The ramp is often a noisy and confusing place to even the most seasoned individual. Even more so at night to a presumably inexperienced passenger such as this. This is a really tragic accident and it could have been prevented. The pilot-in-command is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of an aircraft. The pilot is responsible for the operation and safety of the aircraft during flight time. Flight time is defined by the FAA as the total time from the moment an aircraft first moves under its own power for the purpose of taking off until the moment it comes to rest at the end of the flight. FAA regulations require passenger safety briefing in both commercial and general aviation. Although there is no regulation or amendment regarding turning off the engine when discharging passengers from a fixed-wing aircraft, that is what is most often done. Common sense dictates that. Even experienced individuals have experienced similar mishaps. |
