anybody into it? for my main listening system, i build all my own stuff. All tubed.

my cd transport is the only thing i didn't build from scratch. Hard to do and very low return as all i am doing is pulling the info off the cd and sending it in it's original digital form to the DAC. Not much to gain here.

my DAC is here. it's got a tubed power supply:

Audio Note Kits - DAC Range Overview

my pre-amp is this foreplay:

Foreplay III Line Stage Kit

my 2 mono amps are these Paramounts with extensive upgrades:

Paramount V1.1 300B/2A3 monoblocks pair kit

My speakers are by Audio Note. I built them from a kit, built the speaker boxes from scratch from their plans. I have kit number 03. there is now an 04:

Audio Note Kits - Audio Note Speaker Kits

i built my own interconnects out of solid silver wire from these plans:

DIY Silver Interconnects

using speaker wires that i built with high quality ends. need to re-do these to a higher standard at some point.

all of the components of the system have generally been upgraded substantially from the stock kits with better tubes, silver caps and wire as well as black gates, better transformers, connectors, attenuators, ect. i don't have many pics of the system on this computer but here are the amps and speakers. Lacewood used for the boxes and had the plate and covers chromed.

My system is designed around my preference for female vocals, folk, jazz, blues, bluegrass, ect. Don't pump much rock through them. I am sort of a technical listener so i am into production values and talent more than genre.

i have generally neglected this hobby for a couple of years and need to get back into it with this thread.

Wow Ed ... nice work!

I am into it - spent a ton and a half on my home theater - 8000 watts plus!

Stupid enough to buy the Dbox chairs that move and come with a subwoofer.

You can feel the shot on your back and go on mountain roads with James Bond as the chairs are on hydraulics.

Took it all down when I moved hoping to have it back up by New Year.

Nice work, Ed! As an electrical engineer, I have an appreciation for craftsmen that put their electronics OUTSIDE the enclosure.

doug, i was also very deeply into home theater for a decade. as the hobby has completely moved from analog to digital i have lost interest. I have a sony black pearl projector that is just fine and i don't have to tweak it at all. still nothing approaches the beauty of my old highly modified Electrohome Marquee 8500lc. really miss that picture but a pain in the ass to have to always tweak it. my surround system consists of a couple of tweaky 3 channel amps, all analysis plus interconnects and martin logan speakers. I have an 8' wide stewart screen and some really nice theater seats. maybe we should start a new thread on home theater

Default parasound

, this is the system i designed for my friend in CT,KLIPSCH RF 83 TOWERS,PIONEER SX 1280..USING PRE AMP OUTS INTO A PARASOUND HALO A21 CLASS A B AMP ,250 WATTS PER CHANNEL WITH 60 AMPS OF CURRENT,THESE TOWERS HAVE TRIPLE 8 INCH CERAMETALIC DRIVERS WITH AN 8 INCH HORN,WHEN I UPGRADE,,ILL GO WITH THE PARASOUND HALO H MODEL,WITH FOUR HUNDRED WATTS OF POWER PER LEG,BEING THAT WHEN I HEARD MY FRIENDS,EVEN THOUGH IT SOUNDED INSANE,THE SPEAKERS COULD BE DRIVEN EVEN HARDER ,THE 83 S TOOK EVERYTHING THE A 21 COULD MUSTER BUT OTHERWISE A GOOD MATCH,THE 83 S ARE RATED AT 250 PER SIDE,BUT THE PEAK ,I BELIEVE IS OVER 800,THATS WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP ,I MIGHT BE OFF,THE RF 83 S WEIGH 100 POUNDS EACH,THATS ALMOST DOUBLE THE WEIGHT OF MY 35 S

My house system is almost as massive as my club system.

13 speaker system throughout my condo. Sounds fantastic but I would love to start all over again with some really high end Hi Fi.

Roberto,

Nice setup! I've been trying to figure out how to get a rack in my place as I'd love to setup what you have and also through in a few servers for home automation. I haven't figured out how to deal with the fan noise from the computers so I've delayed it.

When you say fan noise do you mean actual noise of the fans, or a buzz in the system ?
