Thank you Doug, I truly appreciate the sentiment. Certainly a very different paradigm from when I returned from DaNang in 66. In fact the very first time someone thanked me for my service was in 2002. After 31 years of active duty I retired in 1988 (of course subject to recall even today). Funny how in some ways that seems like a long time ago and in other ways it can seem like just last week for some events. I must say it was a privilege to have served my country. You guys are awesome - for me I order new flags and have them placed at the buildings. Flags only look good for a year or so. Some tenants look at me like it's the best thing in the world and others give me a what for look. I don't know much about pain and suffering to be honest - but for some reason every time there is a big bright flag I get all teary eyed. My Dad would never talk about the war - his buddies would call him and he would always make me leave the room. I still listened in - don't ever recall him happy after talking to his old buddies. Veterans seem to have some unspoken code between them. Somethings I may never understand which is fine too. It's a honor to share the day in any way possible. 612 Nuvolari 16M Grigio Ferro Last edited by champagne612; 11-11-2011 at 10:41 AM. |

some of you have met my brother Matt in the mid atlantic. Nobody has seen him(including me) in quite awhile so i thought this thread would be a good update. He has completed his special forces, ranger and sniper school training. He is now training as lead jumper and has been accepted into HALO school which he starts soon. Over achiever! he has also done a couple of tours in iraq. mainly as a gunner on patrol on top of a humvee. not the most secure job over there. Thanks for your service Matt and all others who have worn a uniform, including my dad who is a marine. A pic below of him driving my diablo. probably one of the last times i have seen him. Everything you know is wrong Stop chatting and start living the ferrarilife! |

Ed...I'm sure I speak for everyone when I ask you to please send Matt the very best wishes from all of us here in the Life. I did 6 in the US Navy back in the 80's. Commissioned 2 ships that no longer exist, USS Kidd and USS Valley Forge. Still communicate regularly with friends from both via facebook. Best to all my comrades in arms. Ditto on Lane's reply Ed. Give Matt our best.
