I haven't been around here in awhile. I've been pretty busy. I've been in China since June and I love it! I still keep up with Archie, Chris and Lane at facebook and I've hooked up with Archie a couple of times in Singapore. I miss you guys over here but my internet is slow over there so just keeping up on facebook takes awhile. (They don't have facebook in China but my server goes through Norway via satellite). Hope everyone is doing well and I'll try and stop by more often. I need to get back into the Ferrari stuff. I haven't even started my little red car in a year. Too busy to mess with it. Capt. OMG ! They turned you into a corrupt communist, Pete. You better get a doze of western women to get back to reality. (But then, that looks like fun, can I join ?). What part of China are you at, Pete ? Take care, or they would take care of you, right ? w/ smiles Jimmy |

I swore off the western women 3 years ago. I can't afford them. I'm all in for this communist stuff. Plenty for everyone! LOL. Did you know that China has twice as many women as the USA has people? You know how it got that way? That's right, China is a fun place to be. This picture is in Zhuhai which is on the border with Macau. My office is in Shekou. In all seriousness, you know that I spent time late last year and earlier this year in Korea. I like China so much better than Korea. Just the atmosphere is so much different. This part of China is much more westernized than the democratic South Korea. The Chinese welcome the westerners where the Koreans seem to resent them. It might turn out to just be a communist plot in the long run but until then - "Wheeeeee!!!!!" Capt. As for Korea, I have had some patients of mine who like South Korea very much,....but then, probably for different reasons ?! So glad to hear from you and even better to see you are alive and kicking and having good time. I am sure the resto fo FL crowd would chime in to say hi. w/ smiles Jimmy | |

Yeah Jimmy, I've met plenty of people who love South Korea. It's just not for me though. Not to say that it isn't a successful country, it is very industrial, very traditional. It is a very regimented society. The factory workers will wear their factory uniforms all the time. For shopping, socializing, etc. always in uniform. And they do not seem to like outsiders. In China a group of complete strangers will want you to join them and share in their food and drink. You don't get that in Korea. I think it is because China wants to become westernized. Korea does not. They are still driving scooters in Korea while the Chinese are driving Buicks, Chryslers, Porsches and Mercedes Benz. Of course being the only caucasian at the party makes you kind of a celebrity. I think most of it is because they want to practice their English. I'm sure that you would agree that the ability to speak English is a status symbol in Asia. Any Asian businessman that speaks English will be more successful than his colleague who does not. That is until China finishes buying up America and Europe and forces us all to speak Mandarin. Until then, I've decided to help all the Chinese speak English. I'm starting with the girls. I'm such a humanitarian. Either that or I'm an unwitting tool in the spread of Chinese communism. I guess we'll have to look for my name in Wikipedia in 20 years to see which one I was. Having said that, I guess if Wikipedia isn't banned in 20 years then I was the humanitarian. If Wikipedia is banned then you'll know it was my fault. Capt. Jimmy, I'm working in China. So business is my main reason to be there. I've got a resident work visa. We are helping to build up the Chinese offshore oil industry. China used to be an oil exporting country (sending most of it to Japan actually), now with their booming economy they are an oil importing nation. They are fairly new to the deepwater game and there are large reserves in the South China Sea so we are helping to explore it and develop production wells. A picture of our drilling unit and me in my office onboard with one of my oil rig workers. ![]() Capt. | Tif, Still got the garage. Progress on it slowed way down when the (now ex) wife decided she needed all of my money more than I did. But this year I did some more work on it, slowly getting there. This pic was taken early June. The painting is all done now.

Pete! Good to see you still alive and drilling ![]() Sounds like you are just outside of Hong Kong. By far one of my top 5 favorite places in the world. Tons of energy. I just hope in 2046 Beijing doesn't mess with it too much. Looks like you are having tons of fun, your garage can wait for retirement. |
