Default Punkin Chunkin World Championships

Ken(KVisser) and i attended the Punkin Chunkin World Championships in Delaware on saturday and a good day was had by all. I'm sure ken will jump in with the pics of the event, but i wanted to start it off with a pic of me welcoming the governer of Delaware to the event. Didn't get his name. Yes, i have a mid atlantic chimp on my head. He was a good sport. Those are a couple of the "myth busters" in the backround. didn't get their names either. try as they might, they were not able to bust the myth of the Wetpet! I think the look on their faces says it all "who the fuck is that, and what is with the governor's hair?"

Later in the day i decided i was gonna bust up the filming of the myth busters by getting the host drunk on good bourbon (had a bottle handy all day), son of a bitch tried to run off with the whole bottle. don't worry, i tackled him and got it back. friggen lush. it pretty much went on like that all day.

Default pumpkin chunking 2011

What a fun event this was. There was close to 100,000 people in attendance which puts it on the same level as NASCAR.

The ingenuity and brazen alcohol consumption was well on display. But interestingly enough, I never ran into one obnoxious person.

The human powered machines were the most interesting to watch. There were spectacular failures and amazing shots. One human powered centrifuge deviced heaved the pumpkin 1600 ft!

Half of the fun was watching the people who came thoroughly enjoy themselves. I definitely want to come back next year.

Quite a bit. they use compressed air instead of hairspray and an igniter though. and the spuds are a lot bigger and they go a lot farther-almost a mile.

I was born and raised in Delaware.....lived there too long too. The pumkin-chunkin contest is one of the state's claims to fame. Heck it may be the only one. The state is 100 miles long and 50 at its widest. The drink-all-you-want contest is held where we used to call s-lower Delaware. The evil northern part is banks and Dupont....the southern comes with a drawl, farms and not much else cept for some nice beaches.

If you like zany antics and backyard engineering and fun people watching, this is a must attend. Great time and fun people all about.

I didn't see the whole program and missed the day 2 stuff. Ed, did you or Hunter make it on?
