Marco Simoncelli, Honda motoGP driver, died at Sepang today. He lost the control of his bike and was hit by Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi bikes. A terrible thing. This young man, 24 years old, was a fantastic driver and a splendid person. Addio Marco, SuperSic, mi mancherai molto. Ciao. Mauro

I watched things unfold this morning, very sad viewing it was. A great loss to the sport as he was on his way to the top of the sport.

I tivo'd the raced, and haven't watched it yet. When I saw this headline, I couldn't believe it. I'm shocked and dismayed. Super-Sic was a polarizing figure, to be sure. Like or not, he was bringing back some of the personality of the sport that brought many of us into it in the past. He was good for GP, and he was good for Italy. We'll all miss him. that is just horrible. I haven't seen the incident, as I said, but I've got to feel for Edwards and Rossi as well. Those are two guys who will internalize their involvement. I know Colin personally, and he will handle this in a unique fashion, I can assure you. |
