Default Thoughts: WallStreet Spring

I know these protests seem passing, but somehow................thinking it may pick-up momentum and be more serious. I remember the Viet protests and the rads starting the process only to see it blossom into real protest and eventual factor.

what are your thoughts> ME, I expect it to be a definite election issue.

Doesn't matter if it's an election issue. People will still vote for Obama/clinton/perry/romney/ M. O. U. S. E. Doesn't matter. if you don't get it after Obama, you never will.

Sadly, these protesters are being duped by the likes of michael moore. They will be quickly co-opted by the political establishment (probably "left") just like the tea party was ("right"). the problem is not capitalism, it's monopoly capitalism. We haven't had free market capitalism since probably world war 2. these guys think that because someone is wealthy, they are capitalists. Plenty of the worst offenders are really socialists. Like moore and soros. they want monopolies not competition. whether it is their company or the government they don't care cause they own the government too. Rockefeller, who most people would consider a capitalist was in fact a socialist. He is famous for being quoted as saying "competition is a sin".

the problem with wall street and the banksters isn't capitalism, it's corporatism. The laws and regs are already on the books for these guys to be charged with fraud and put in jail. the regs are already there to strip them of their traders license for breach of fiduciary responsibility. the problem is, the regulators are bought off. even if they do go after them, they are willing to take a fine(bribe) and let them go right back to what they are doing. The system is fine just the way it is. The problem is our elected officials are bought and paid for. and you keep electing them.

there is a simple solution as far as the people's ability to effect change. Pull your money and biz out of the big 6 and put it in your community bank or credit union. "wall street" would collapse over night. Standing in front of them waving signs and having the media spin it to make you look like idiots does get the conversation started but has little real world effect. take your money out of citi/goldman/jp morgan/boa, and it will all be over quickly.

then there is the fed. End the fed!

alas, the sheeple will be herded and told where to go so it is all really for naught. Hope and change anyone? Goodnight slaves......

Yes script even if poorly.

Wet: I agree with what you say which leads me to say you see their more serious point, also: capitalism out of control. Great 'old' talking point that like the tea the left....perhaps some middle may take notice. I'll need to drive clear of their areas.

From this side of the Atlantic, it does look very scripted.

On the company’s website, Woody, the Ben & Jerry cow mascot, is holding a sign reading “Occupy.”
From the statement, signed by the company’s board of directors:
“We, the Ben & Jerry’s Board of Directors, compelled by our personal convictions and our Company’s mission and values, wish to express our deepest admiration to all of you who have initiated the nonviolent Occupy Wall Street Movement and to those around the country who have joined in solidarity. The issues raised are of fundamental importance to all of us.”
The site then goes on to list a handful of the issues (inequality, unemployment, corporate lobbying, etc).
It then goes on to say:
“We know the media will either ignore you or frame the issue as to who may be getting pepper sprayed rather than addressing the despair and hardships borne by so many, or accurately conveying what this movement is about. All this goes on while corporate profits continue to soar and millionaires whine about paying a bit more in taxes. And we have not even mentioned the environment.”
One thing to note: Ben & Jerry’s is owned by British-Dutch conglomerate Unilever, a publicly traded company.
Our question: What name would you give to the Ben & Jerry’s #OccupyWallStreet flavor? Tell us in the comments below.
My answer: Mooo've over suckas'
