Default Alfa 4C?

I put down a deposit on the Alfa 4c back when it was first introduced at the Geneva Auto show. Given that the launch has now been delayed until 2013, I am seriously considering if I should pull it.

Thoughts?

Stay on and order some good winter tyres for it. Then enjoy it as your all year round sports- and rallye car. I must be awesome on gravel roads.

That's a tough one - a local guy here received one of the first 8c's and drove it twice. Second time as to the dealer and took a 30k hit.

Pull it

My first question to you would be:
What was it that made you want the car.
If your answer still holds true today....leave it ..if not pull it.

I really liked the concept. A CF based car that could be used as a everyday run around and would be a great drive.

In that case - grab a McClaren

btw capos answer brought a smile to my face......I just have great difficulty imagining you driving the alfa in a rally manner after having seen the video of the F40 and the way that you change gears in it. Going from a maniacal driver to a studious driver is a transition to radical for me to imagine.

Not sure I understand that one. My impression is rally drivers are much faster on the gears than I have ever been in the F40 (or anything else).

My suggestion would be to consider this: if you're pulling the 4C then what would you buy instead? If you have serious contenders that you can get earlier than 2013 then you can leave the 4C. Otherwise I'd leave the deposit in, I think it will be a cracking little car.

Good point, might want to get an Exige in the meantime. The Lotus even has a manual transmission which you like. That way you can collect and share wisdom on both the Exige and the 4C in order for us to know which one to buy. I am very hooked on the 4C. It looks like a 33 Stradale and that's not bad!

Also, I've grown to like "worthy" compact sports cars and until now only the Dino does it for me. The 4C however, has quickened my blood! I hope Ferrari makes a Dino on the same carbon platform but with a small V6 revving to 10.000rpm.

I think I will let the deposit ride for a bit.

On the Lotus Elise/Exige, have driven a few and just don't bond with them.

Saw the 4C in the flesh at Frankfurt - beautiful! had a chat with the Alfa marketing guy for Germany and he seems to think late 2012 - Boxster money. I would hold it for a while at least.

Definitly hold it! It looks like the first proper alfa in a while. I hope alfa keeps there promise and brings it to the states. We've been alfa deprived for too long!

I hope Ferrari build a car like that too, but on a different platform please. Ferraris should remain unique.

Not sure about the silver, red looked great, would also like to see it in black.

Fiat owns Alfa - don't they?

I think the designer is on house at Alfa

Could be wrong - regardless it's very cool the way Alfa keeps it's signature grille. The only other company IMO that has done that is Aston.

Yes, have done for ages and so what? No Ferrari has ever been based on a sister company's platform and it should remain that way.
