Default Searching ebay?

This is going to sound stupid.....I sure feel stupid.

I haven't searched ebay recently, but last night I decided to list a couple things and I spent a little time looking at stuff......I couldn't find shit. When I search on ferrari parts about 53000 things come up, almost none of which are ferrari parts? I couldn't find anything....I couldn't even find the stuff I put on easily.

Is it just me or has that place gone completely to shit lately?

I know the feeling - wanted to sell eight wood maple basketball courts listed them twice and afterwards couldn't find them for 15 minutes.

There are e-bay type stores that will list for you and handle the sale.

Craigslist is a lot easier and faster ... had great results!

Mark, I get the same as you when I search - sometimes I can narrow it down to 2000 items or so, by looking only in the Parts section, but otherwise, it's just ad after ad for seat covers and HID's.

What occasionally works is entering a specific Ferrari P/N in the search criteria. The seat cover and HID vendors haven't figured out how to get around that one.....yet.

'99 550, Rosso Corsa / Nero, S/N:114654, Assy: 31836, Engine: 52084

High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars.

Mark, Doug- What has happened is the HID light purveyors, seat cover guys, tailpipe guys, etc have dumped multiple ads into each specific Ferrari category and that makes it almost impossible to search and find anything. Junk tailpipe with "fits Ferrari 575" appended.

In the olden days, a search of E-Bay Motors for Ferrari 575 would show about 800-1000 items, all Ferrari relevant. Now there are 3500-4500 and 75-80% of them are junk that no Ferrari owner will ever buy. I complained to E-Bay, but never even received an answer. Has really cut down on the number of searches I run. When I do search, I grab the down bar on the right and zoom down, stopping when there is a real ad.

When I think of the stuff I found in the good old days, like an HGTC exhaust for $399, an FHP shock absorber ECU for $550, OEM carbon fiber parts for 10-30% of OEM cost, etc, it is pretty sad now. I know I miss things I would buy now, but the search is just too big a pain in the rear.

HGTC exhaust for 399 - That's an insane find.

I will try that method ... still a big of buying off e-bay but listing on it - no way.

I've found some success in filtering results with the iPad app and being as specific as possible. Ymmv.

Also, I recently listed a set of challenge wheels and luggage for a 355 and got my price no problem.

Still a good place to buy/sell but I agree there is a flood of junk out there too.
