Default Maserati GranTurismo MC Review

I was invited by Maserati NA to participate in a driving event in Southern California's Anza Borrego Desert to wring out the performance of Maserati's newest high performance coupe the MC.

The MC is the best of the series for the hardcore performance audience. By tuning its 4.7 liter V-8 to 444 hp (up 11 hp) with a top speed of 185 mph (now you can blare Joe Walsh's song and have it bring a whole new meaning to... "my Maserati does one eighty five), while it may not keep up with the ultrafast Ferrari 458 Italia, for $100,000 less, it does a superb job of striking the right balance in the ever important price to performance ratio.

The question is, how does the new GranTurismo MC compare to other heavy weight GT champs like the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Jaguar XKR-S, Bentley's upcoming V8 powered Continental GT or even the Ferrari California? I'll post mid-week with photos along with more feedback of the drive.

Look forward to your updates Andrew. The MC is on my short list to buy in the next couple of years well maybe sooner if I can convince my wife we need a "family" car lol

David, Will do! This weekend was HOT east of San Diego. I want to return and drive some more of the roads in that area. They were awesome.

Sounds like a great weekend. I am sure the Maser eat the rest of the competition alive.

Looking forward to the write-up. Sounds like a pretty big deal to get invited to that by Maserati NA. Congrats!

Yup, we had our yearly 2 1/2 day heatwave. I took the Spider to Miramar and was roasting. Now, we're back to the idealic mid-70s and sea breeze. Tough duty here in Paradise. Although lately, Highway Patrol along the coast are really starting to get serious about speeders.

The roads out near A-B are indeed awesome, only trouble is it takes forever to get out there. May have to start going out that way just to avoid the other "heat".
