It has been my longtime dream to own a ferrari, which im sure that you have heard many times over on here. I'm starting young though and would like to purchase a ferrari somewhere along the line.

Currently I am going into my Senior year at Arizona State. I am in Army ROTC and am planning a career as an Army officer. The pay, with the BAH and BAS, is quite good. The pension, though, is what really sold me on doing a full career. Given that I put in a good 30 years and retire as a full bird, I'll be making $85,000/yr (inflation adjusting) until I die.

I plan on doing a lot of private investing on top of that. My plan, thus far, is to invest AT LEAST $15,000 on my own, each year, no matter what. I know that will bring me to about $2,000,00 in retirement. If I am required to buy my own house off post, I plan to put it on a short term mortgage to minimize interest accumulation. Yes, I am a dreamer, but I am a dreamer with a plan. I am not willing to live a life without direction and make mistakes I am extremely motivated to live the sort of life my parents live.

I come from money and I know that to be wealthy means going without it your younger years and before you are over the hill.

I want to know what sort of things that you guys are investing in and what investing strategies you have used to acquire the sort of funds needed to live a comfortable lifestyle in which a ferrari was doable. I would like to own one before I am 40 or 35, without making major sacrifices.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
