Dino dash material is one of those fine details that owners have been trying to get right for ages. Typically it has been named mousefur, mousehair, mouse fur, mouse hair, etc. If you look closely it is a running, long grained vinyl known as "Dino Vinyl" that has been flocked to reduce reflections. While it works very well at cutting the glare, it fades fast and jokes have been made about how quickly it turns to grey. It also is not very durable and easily damaged with the flocking wearing off when rubbed (hint: when spot wiping do not rub, rather use a damp cloth and lightly dab straight down then lift directly up).

Here is my original Dino dash and mousehair next to the best flocked Dino vinyl material I could find. It truly is flocked Dino vinyl (sorry for the photos, it was difficult to photograph).
Note that some who have seen it say it has a blue cast to it.

I learned of a new product from the Netherlands which is supposed to a very good representation of Dino dash material. The purveyor is Henk and it is very expensive (160 Euro per mtr?)

I was visiting a shop in Los Angeles, CA and obtained a swatch of Henk's material from him. The trimmer in S. CA explained that it was not flocked Dino vinyl but a weave. The photo was difficult to take but hopefully you can see that it is layered with a felt backing.

I've recently bought 2 metres of the dash material from Henk which is the amount required to retrim a dash. It was 162.50 euros per metre excl tax not 500.
