Thanx for the lead, Boxer. I shall think of getting one. Something about the word, "compendium", has this nice ring to it, ...reminds me of my college days in biology class, ...nostalgic, I suppose. w/ smiles Jimmy

Jimmy, Boxer- Matthias is a real expert on the Dinos, has a very detailed database, and the book should be very comprehensive. I like how he mimicked the Dino 246 owners manual cover.

| +1 Terry. At first glance, I thought it was the manual. Another good point is that it is produced in Germany (maybe printed somewhere else, but) which is nice ...and the price reflects that. w/ smiles Jimmy

At Cavallino last January I entered my Dino in the concours for judging. While at my car I met Volkmar from Germany. He was very fastidious during his inspection of my car. He took pictures, checked serial numbers and notes before calling Matthias, the author of the Compendium and gave him the detailed information on my car. He then told me the car was white w/ a black interior originally. It is a Euro Dino GTS..which he said was desirable over the pond due to the lesser number of GTS's there. Volkmar then spent his time to go over my car with me to point out details. He showed his passion for Dinos with the knowledge of a concours judge. He was so friendly and most helpful to me. Please excuse my transgression.......I normally am not a show car guy. But this little Dino does deserve to be brought out in the sunshine for others to see. Steve- I had forgotten you had a Dino. Always remember the GTC and Boxer. You will have to post some photos in the Dino section.

Matthias Bartz is a regular poster in the 206/246 area of F-Chat. He's been really helpful in verifying information about owner's specific Dinos. He has an amazing Dino history archive that has all the individual build specs including colours, numbers, build dates etc. Here's the website for the book http://www.dino-book.com/ Freeman Last edited by 4CamGT; 12-23-2011 at 11:55 AM. |

Nice piece. Interesting how many creative people I've seen or been around that reference George Lucas in terms of coaching, mentoring and influencing design methodology. Very cool that he has chosen what is arguably two of the best looking cars Ferrari has ever made to comment on both here and on the clip.... excuse the bit of hero worship... I've always thought of automotive design and movie special effects production as two dreams that were always just out of my grasp.
