We are pleased to offer 1973 Ferrari 246 GT s/n 05522, a well-documented USA model 246 GT with only 46,220 total miles from new, a mere 1,000 miles a year. New in Ferrari red with black leather, A/C, P/W and Campagnolo wheels. Known ownership from new and in the Los Angeles area its entire life. Restored between 2000 and 2006 with a full engine and gearbox rebuild and a complete strip and paint. Comes with all service records and full documentation of the restoration work. Nicely sorted. Fitted with headlight covers from new.

We are pleased to offer 1972 Ferrari 246 GTS s/n 04180, a bargain priced Euro model 246 GTS with one long-term owner from 1983 to today. New in Fly yellow with power windows and still in Fly yellow today. Runs fine, drives well, good original syncros. Nice paint, good leather. Complete with the owner’s manual, a re-print of the factory workshop manual, the tool roll with a few tools, the jack and the jack bag. It also includes all ownership and service documents back to the early-80s.
In the early 1980s 246 GTS s/n 04180 was customized with 250 GTO style driving lights recessed into the nose panel, 250 GTO style recessed turn signals and nicely fitted covered headlights. The front bumpers were removed for a sleek look. The interior features a unique center console and an after-market steering wheel. The engine lid has a raised scoop to clear the large air cleaners. The rear body has been fitted with a 250 GTO style ducktail spoiler. Has no rust, excellent panel fit and no signs of any previous body damage or repairs.
246 GTS s/n 04180 is priced as a running-driving restoration project or a great entry-level Dino for the enthusiast who wants a unique Ferrari or a great priced Ferrari Dino to eventually do a restoration. 1974 Dino (Ferrari) 246 GTS Serial Number 07014

This 246 GTS has a well documented history since sold new by Crepaldi in Milano and has been in the US since 1977. Expertly updated to "Chairs and Flares" during the Ferrari boom of the late 1980s with the correct Factory fender flares and Daytona seats, and finished off with the correct and wider Campagnolo wheels. Nicely detailed red paint over very good tan leather Daytona seats with black inserts and excellent dark tan carpets. Good "mouse-fur" on the dash. Very nicely detailed engine compartment. Just serviced by Symbolic Service, pre-sale inspection done. Targa top repaired and repainted. All new front and rear upper and lower control or A-arm bushings, all new upper and lower Koni shock bushings, all new upper and lower ball joints, all new sway bar bushings. New fuel filter and fuel filter housing re-sealed. Transaxle flushed, new pan gasket and transaxle gear oil. New radiator cooling fan blade assembly and new fan motor. Radiator coolant flushed. New-old-stock steering wheel and seat belts. Console re-covered. Fuel filler door adjusted and trunk lid cable replaced. New door rubber seals. Engine oil heat-exchanger replaced. Four wheel suspension alignment. Total invoice $9,222.55. Invoice with pre-sale inspection on file.
Mechanically maintained and nicely detailed, this Dino is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. It runs great, looks great and drives equally as well. 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS Barn Find with 2,910 miles for sale by Mecum Auction

DESCRIPTION

One of the first Ferrari experts to inspect this barn-find 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS described it without hesitation as “the finest original example on Earth.” In fact, with just 2,900 miles on the odometer after sitting in storage for over thirty years, the car shows barely a hint of the decades that have passed since it last saw the road and required very little to return it to perfect readiness.
Like the other two Italians in this barn-find trifecta, the Dino’s original tires and Koni shock absorbers needed replacements. In addition, the water pump required servicing and the coolant lines were replaced with stainless steel pieces; the dual fuel tanks have also been drained and cleaned, the crossover fuel lines replaced, and the carburetors rebuilt. Otherwise, the car looks and runs as if it left Chinetti’s dealership just yesterday.
The Dino’s Rosso Corsa paint is very good overall with some checking, and the Tan interior, which features Daytona-style bucket seats, has been described as “flawless.” All chrome is in excellent condition save for slight pitting in the left front bumper, probably the result of the car’s orientation in the corner of the storage building where it was found. The rubber is supple throughout, with the exception of the lift-off roof panel sealing strips, which will soon give way to correct replacements.
Citing some of the details that reveal a car’s secrets to the practiced eye, the cadmium- and zinc-plated components show none of the deterioration that normally happens over time, and the nylon ties used to secure undercarriage lines and hoses, normally yellowed and dried out over the years, are still fresh and white, looking like they were just installed.
Unlike most barn finds, the Dino also holds a treasure trove of documentation in the form of the original buyer’s order and sales contract from Luigi Chinetti Motors, Inc., complete manuals, the original dusting cloth and the complete original toolkit, all in an astonishingly well-preserved example, the likes of which we may never see again.

Very surprised at the $270K you just posted. After 30 years of not being started it will need some work. Sure the exterior is flawless as well as the interior, but $100K - $130K over what the majority are selling for?

All that work was done prior to being auctioned. Looks like someone bought a correctly valued time capsule. I also see what looks to be a black Daytona and a silver Maserati Bora in that find. Wonder what happened to those cars?
