Default 1973 Dino 246 GTS On Offer

On offer from Mike Sheehan...

We are pleased to offer USA model 1973 Ferrari 246 GTS s/n 06456. Cosmetically and mechanically near-new, this Ferrari is in excellent condition, with everything working as it should. A superb Ferrari Dino, priced right at $179,500.

Finished in a very elegant Rosso Corsa with excellent cream leather Daytona seats with black inserts and black carpets, 246 GTS s/n 06456 has only 52,485 well-documented miles and a known ownership history from new. In the last four years 246 GTS s/n 06456 has been treated to a complete repaint, an engine-out service, new water and fuel hoses, a transaxle rebuild and the dash has been re-upholstered with un-obtanium new-old-stock original mouse-fur. This Dino looks great, runs great and drives and shifts as new.

246 GTS s/n 06456 is complete with the leather owner's pouch, owner's handbook and an as-new full set of tools with the tool roll. Also has the jack, the jack bag and lug wrench. This 246 GTS offers everything the Ferrari owner could want: the pouch with the owner's handbook, full tools, the fun of topless motoring, the soft and sensual lines of the Dino and the sounds of the well-proven, low maintenance and high-revving V6 that makes every trip to the grocery store sound like a qualifying lap at Sebring.

Looking for more of a driver than a show car and it is on the wrong side of the Atlantic.

The sales blurb refers to the "fun of topless motoring".

This oft used phrase always makes me chuckle

Not sure what you call it, but appears like the original, fuzzy, cloth-like material (alcantara ?), which turns whitish with time. w/ smiles Jimmy

If you read the ad (ahem! ), then you will see that it was recovered with new old stock mouse hair.

I hope not.
At that high price, I'd want
- an original steering wheel,
- valve covers in original (not black)
- proper Daytona seats (these are too flat between the daytona inserts)
- correct two ear header tank cap
- coolant pipes in stainless (engine out servicing and they didn't do this?)
- the tools may be new but they are not correct for a Dino. Look like 308 tools to me
http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages...56&imgnum=P028
- the pouch is from a far morer modern Ferrari, 1990's or newer
http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages...56&imgnum=P027

Sheehan knows these cars well, how could he ever attempt to make a claim
"This 246 GTS offers everything the Ferrari owner could want: the pouch with the owner’s handbook, full tools..."

The original was flocked "Dino" vinyl.

It is NLA but there is a good repro around, do you need some?

PS - here are a few quick photos to show it against the original (note the dark areas where the original was preserved behind installed items)

The grain is correct and the flocking is consistent.

The owner has authorized a price reduction. Now asking $169,500.

Still highly optimistic on price.

Not so well done ...

Look at the second photo. It does have a Ferrari script at the rear left.

@SCM246 This material does look like the real thing.
First time I see one as close to the original ,and it's the same "flocked Dino Vinyl" for a Daytona dash .

I'm very happy with it and the dash looks great,
no matter what you call it mousehair, mouse hair, mouse fur, or mousefur.
